Purchased 2026 32RLS 5th wheel. Just put deposit on the tow vehicle, 2024 Ram 3500 Laramie Cummins 6.7L HO Night Edition with 6’4” bed. Assuming I need sliding hitch due to bed length. Prefer an easy remove hitch. Love to hear about your setups. What do I need/don’t need? Recommendations??

Jam1263, want is your pin weight?, max trailer weight.

I still have a Pullrite Autoslide ratered for 16k that I used in my 2017 RAM 2500. Puck system. Give it too you for a very good price, you would need the adapter plate, the one I have is for a 1622 king pin.

Let me know, can meet half,

Nice truck! Lots of variables but probably. 24 F350 SB , 6’9” bed, is our vehicle. With the B&W Companion slider and the pivot arms in the rear position we did not need to use the slide function. With them in the forward position we did need the slide function. I can’t recall the position of the pucks on the Ram relative to cab of the truck… and for some reason I thought they made a change to the position of the puck. But not sure it was rearward, wider stance, or something else. Anyhow, enjoy it all!!

Thank you for the offer! I’m working with the dealer. I negotiated a parts discount, hitch included.

B & W Companion Slider easy enough to remove and install? Bed covers work with hitch installed? Better to go with roll up Tonneau cover? I read specs and reviews but I find experiences from users/members to be more valuable. As always, appreciate your comments

Mechanically, it's easy to remove the B&W; pop off the head, rotate the cams lift it out. But it is heavy. I'm not the strongest guy in the world, but I'm in pretty good shape. I can do it by myself but it's a lot easier with two people.

Though I am not thrilled with my cover, Rough Country Retractable, it's been fine with both the B&W and the Gen Y. Prior to the CP4 failure on my truck, leading to our decision to go back to Ram when the redesign drops, I was going to move to the Peragon.

We too had a 24k Pullrite superglide , excellent hitch. Just upgraded to Gen-Y and looking to sell the Pullrite.

Any Reese Goose Box experiences? Contemplating changing the pin box before I towed the 32RLS one mile. Also, is Alliance good with GN relative to the frame warranty? I called Alliance and left message. Ne reply yet.

I have a Reese GB on my 32RLS. I installed it in the dealer garage, so that’s all I’ve known. I love it for a lot of reasons and paired with the BW offset gooseball I have good clearance. It’s a heavy SOB, but I was able to install it myself.

Logistically speaking, how did you install yourself? The dealer I bought 32 RLS from got suddenly less friendly when I said I wanted to change the pin box before I picked up the FW. They want to charge $1800 to install. Plus inflated hitch cost. If they won’t let me send in a non-improved GB I might have to change direction.

It would sure seem like $1800.00 to install is an exorbitant price and basically a message that states that they are not
interested in doing the work. Heck even at a $200.00 per hour labor rate that would be implying it is a 9 hour job.
I would estimate that most pin boxes could be changed out in 2 to 4 hours or less. Just depends on experience and the lifting equipment you might have on hand.

Personally, with the help of a friend for lifting, we changed ours out in about 2 hours. So in a shop environment that would be 4 labor hours.( 2 guys x 2 hours each = 4). However, I would bet most shops only assign one guy to the job and the tech would use lifting equipment or they would ask a co worker for a brief assist until some bolts are started.

They might rethink the quote if you made it a condition of sale and threatened to walk if they were still unreasonable.

I don't know what truck you have that your looking for the slider hitch for but I do have this for sale only used for about 9 or 10 hookups. This is the picture from e-trailer but the one on the truck is almost brand new for a very reasonable price. Located in AZ.

I chose the Demco 18k Autoslide because it does not require an adapter on the 5W. Anyone can tow my 5W and I can tow any else's (possibly requiring a quick adjustment). I used to have the Pull-Rite and liked it but this time chose the Demco. It's a very heavy piece of equipment though (~500 pounds). I'm lucky to have a chain hoist handy.
