Friction hinges

Anybody else hate the lippert friction hinges? My valor is 5-1/2 months old and they are already too snug/tight. Got to searching and is a known issue. Tried to drill the pins out of the sided of barrel of hinge and failed. Ordered 4 regular 6leaf hinges for the doors. Why rv makers like these, I will never know.

I pull the plastic cap out of the top and fill the cup with 3in1 oil and let it work down through. So far it seems to help. Our Montana had them as well. They got so bad it was almost impossible to get the door latched.

Yeah, did that but still having lots of flexing at the door frame. To your point, it did help, but I am not satisfied. I am going to eliminate the problem and put the non friction ones on there. Haven’t cared for them since I picked up the trailer. It is the main entry that is worse than the garage one. I would think more use would tend to loosen them up, not tighten up. Regular hinges and a magnetic bumper will do the trick.

Lippert recommends a dry silicon or a white lithium grease.

I used the dry silicone slide out lube to quiet them and I do not have any friction anymore. So we had to add a magnet holder for door.

I replaced those friction hinges with regular hinges. I did not like those friction hinges working on the door frame.

Hopefully a door that accepts any of the aftermarket lock options unlike the glass one that serves no benefit..

We've had friends that purchased replacement doors from them and they're great!

Yeah, I never understood why the glass doors. Especially since they still have a tiny window as well, and no window in the rear one.

I use diesel oil because out of the various lubricants I keep on hand, this has worked the longest before requiring reapplication.

We use the Bosheild T-9 every once in a while when the door starts talking to us. Seems to work well.

So, like many, I am not impressed with the so called friction hinges . Obviously the concept of friction is drag or resistance.

So, from a purely sarcastic point of view, isn’t it an oxymoron to think that applying lubricant to our hinges will improve their performance.😂. And yes, I have done the same!!!!!

I don’t mind the friction at all. Opposite really. They were squeaking so frigging bad! Even soaking them they would squeak the next day. Squeak is an exaggeration. Like an angry duck.
