Hi guys, Planning on installing a 3000 watt Renogy inverter, without the transfer switch. Most post that i have read all say to install a 50 amp transfer switch, but why go to all that expense. First you have to purchase a 50 amp transfer switch, electrical wire for 50 amp, and when all installed you have to turn off electrical breaker to converter in distribution panel.
Reasons for not buying a 3000 watt inverter with transfer switch, when installed to inverter prep would have access only to 5 dedicated plugs in RV
My way of thinking is run a short 30 amp electrical wire from the load side of the 3000 watt inverter to a 30amp receptacle plug in a device box mounted to side wall. Most everyone have a 50 amp to 30 amp dogbone. Plug 30 amp extension cord to 30 amp device box, this will power distribution panel. Must turn off breaker to converter same as transfer switch.
Easier installation, and much cheaper.
