Slide Top Flap Seals

Can anyone suggest how to get the top slide flap seals to flip out when the slides open. They are conditioned and in good shape but most times will not flip to the out position when the slide is extended.

Hi there!
Sure can, this is an easy one. Install a seal flipper(technical term I know)! So, our 310RL has thin pieces of plastic or rubber installed on both sides of our kitchen slide out. The concept is that because there are no windows on either side, there is no molding that has to travel under the seal to start the flipping process.
You certainly could do the same for your top seal. You will need to figure out optimal placement so that it works in both directions, but if you get something that has to travel under the seal, it should catch and starting the flipping process until friction can take it the rest of the way.
I would contact Alliance and ask what they use and see if they will sell you some.

I agree with BryanValRox above .. I had to do this the top of my slide sides to make sure they always "flipped out" Got a couple of pieces from my dealer (they just gave them to me when I described what I was doing) and used a little adhesive. 5 min. mod.

So I’m having the same problem, also one of the “ flipper things “ had fallen off the drivers side slide. I sent a message to Alliance and they sent me about a 8ft roll of them there flipper things. I will cut and stick them where needed. I have a 2023 Paradigm 295MK.

Any idea where to get these besides Alliance? No warranty on mine and I could use some for the kitchen slide.
Found this, maybe it would work?

It may still be worth touching base with Alliance. They may send some your way regardless of the warranty. I think e-trailer has something similar for purchase.

I looked on Etrailer and didn't see anything? I sent an email to Alliance, see what they have to say.

My tops flip out 99 % of time. When I setup I take ladder and look. Only the big driver slide has been problematic on same slide. It has flippers on side but still front left top doesn’t flip out most of time.

Yeah, I normally had issues with at least part of each of the top seals not flipping during set up. I to would get the ladder out and check and correct them via a extension pole under the back side to get them flipped out.
I added flipper material (brought from Alliance) to the tops of each of the 3 slides on our 310RL and after checking there effectiveness via my ladder several time this past season, I have full confidence that they now flip fully each time along the entire length of the seal. Meaning the ladder inspection no longer stands in the way of my successful set up adult beverage.🤣

I bought these off Amazon and after installing 3, 16” sections on each side thought it may be too much? Clearance on one side is tighter than the other. Slide room is not perfectly centered.
Not sure what Alliance recommends?
Also, some pictures online shows them at a 45 degree angle. I went vertical, is that bad or cause too much drag on the seals? The main location for the seal to stay tucked was in the center.

So Alliance has specific material listed as slide flipper material within their parts system. It doesn’t look quite as thick as what you have installed.

After looking at your picture, if you continue to have issues with the seals flipping fully, I would recommend that you relocate the flipper. My recommendation would be a bit more centered on the slide width. The theory being have the flipper run under the seal sooner and let friction do the rest as the slide extends. We never had a problem with our kitchen slide side seal with the factory placement of the flipper.

I took the same approach and installed flippers on the top of all three slides and haven’t had an incomplete flipping event since the install.

The seals flip with my test run. I can tell they are putting some tension on the slide out. Just a sense it’s working harder to pull the slide in.
I may try just one on each side in the middle further out. Here is how the flippers sold online recommend mounting location.
My flipper is less than 1/4”. These sold by Steele products are 1/4”.

Not sure what you mean here. If it is on your hydraulic slide it should care. I know on mine the left and right on my kitchen slide hand to be recentered because it had a lot of room on one side and was super close on the other Struggled getting a finger in on one side. This also fixed the seal flipping issue I was have on the sides of this slide.

Also my slides and landing gear got faster when I changed out the auto reset breaker for an 80amp and upped the wire side.

The top of my slides are getting flippers this year. I have noticed they have issues flipping on overnight stops at first, but flip good after I have had it set up for a couple of day. Think it is just seal memory, it is a long seal. Seems like cooler weather also affects the flip.

Where did you get your flippers?

It seemed like the slide had to work harder to pull in.

Like a car going over a speed bump with both front tires at the same time vs going over the bump diagonally.
I pulled them off and will try one in this position for a while.
