The stock towel holder doesn't spread the towels out enough to allow them to dry quickly. So I went to my local big box store and purchased a 30 inch towel bar in brushed nickle finish, and a birch hardwood board (which I trimmed to size) , and had paint mixed to match the color and finish of the stock towel holder mounting board. Using the existing mounting screws and holes the new towel bar is much better.

That left the original towel holder unused. I decided to repurpose it as a coat hanger in the entry under the switch panel. I trimmed the wood to size, painted the trimmed edges with the matching paint, and voila... I now have coat hooks in the entry way.

Headed West - Thanks for this post and for correctly pointing out that two damp towels hung on the two original flip down hooks will not dry very quickly due to them being all bunched up - something the designers at Alliance apparently haven't experienced or figured out. Ask me how we too learned this hard lesson while camped on the damp, cool and wet OR coast in one of our previous trailers. ;-)
As we are soon to take delivery of our 2027 Alliance All Access 25RL, your post couldn't have come at a better time. I was looking for a better solution to the flip down hooks when hanging damp towels belonging to my wife and I, and your idea seems to provide just what is needed. I did have a question or two;
1. You mentioned you used a 30-inch towel bar in brushed nickel, you attached the towel bar to a birch hardwood board and you used the same mounting holes and hardware. You said you had paint mixed to match the color and finish of the original stock towel holder mounting board. However, looking at where you placed the repurposed board (as a coat hanger) it seems like the paint on the birch hardwood board is darker in color than the painted finish on the repurposed coat hanger. Are my eyes deceiving me? Don't get me wrong, I like both ideas and I too will soon be going down the very same path. As they say...Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
2. Do you happen to have the part number for the 30-inch towel bar in brushed nickel? We are some distance from a big box store so ordering this part online is probably the route we will have to take. Also, did you take the original towel board (the one with the flip down hooks) to a paint shop and have them color match the paint? By chance did they also provide you with the paint recipe? If not, I could work out something on my end.
3. Did you also add an additional towel ring holder? If not, you might consider adding one to the other side of the medicine cabinet as it provides yet another place to hang a washcloth or hand towel. I've been in touch with the parts folks at Alliance and you can order an additional matching towel ring directly from them. It is item number 30489, it costs $12.64, and it comes in a brushed nickel finish.
