Replacing 370FB flooring in kitchen (Island removed)

I damaged my floor and now I am paying the price...LOL. Since the linoleum is floated (Connected at the outside edges) and not glued down, my attempt at patching my mistake looks terrible. Now it's time to do it right and that means removing the island. Here is what I found and how to take the island out. Once again, quality control wasn't working that day and either missed the duct issues. It is also apparent, the engineering at the connection point was not considered, or not used. Pricing in the pictures, was from the first order I made back in 2024. The pattern repeats every 7 feet, so I had to get 14' to make sure I captured a repair piece that would work. I will update the pricing if it changes.

Thanks for sharing. Did they use regular outlets or the cheap clip in wire kind on the island. Watched a few YouTube videos on the outlets and space heaters. Trying to figure out if I need to replace them.

When I extended my dishwasher outlet to the island wall for space heater use I found that it was the regular RV Speedwire outlet.

Surprisingly, they were regular. The ones in the outside walls are the speedwire guillotine type in mine so far.

I started removing things out of the way, to remove the flooring. This is what I found out about the Alliance continuous flooring claim....they didn't do mine that way. I will let the pictures tell the story. The good news, is that I didn't have to wrestle anything out the RV door. I was able to break the big items down and mostly store in the master bedroom & bath.

My plan is to remove the entire piece and use it as a template for the new piece. This job is actually easier, since I don't need to go into the bathroom or pantry. I just need to remove the trim piece under the two slide flaps and the entire piece, should come right up. Guess I may use all the staple gun staples, I have been carrying around for decades!!

RockDr896,

I will say when we were at Alliance doing the tour, the frames had the flooring attached with the vinyl attached across the flooring. I think yours may have started out that way but some mods must have been made for some reason.

One more thing, did you consider LVP or would it be too thick. Just thinking for the future if there was damage you may be able to replace a plank or two?

I really wanted to go that way. The slides were even able to run just fine, because I had enough planks from my house to test it. However, I could not find a solution to the Linoleum flaps that cover the slide hardware. I know the LVP would could not handle a foot step with the overhang required to cover the hardware.

I also could not reconcile the trimming out around the stairs. It cannot go under the stair connection, because it would interfere with closing the doors. I did not test that, because of the overhang slide issue stopped me from trying it.

Glad you and anyone else are enjoying my stay busy projects and hopefully helping your plans to do the same! Just remember everyone, even if you make a mistake, it is still cheaper than hiring someone.

I would like to go on record and say that pulling the linoleum floor is terrible. I found that taking a narrow head screw driver, hammer, and pliers to remove the staples first, was the best way to do it. Alliance uses staples AND glue around the edges, so just ripping it out, is not an option. I needed the edges, since I am going to trace the old piece, to cut the new piece. The good news, is that I am two weeks ahead of schedule, but the hard parts are over for now...YEAH!! Just need the new piece. Here is the pricing on the piece. Just waiting on shipping cost. Qty is in SqYds

Since I have time, I figured I would solicit ideas on what to do with side storage cabinets. Any input would be appreciated!!

Trying to picture what you are building. Is the desk top going to be 6.5' x 35" at a height of 23.5", I think the standard desk height is around 30"? Is there space under the desk top where cabinets can be wider than 9.5"? I think you will be hard pressed to find functional cabinets 9.5" wide to replace the original, plus matching the rest of the cabinets could also be a problem.

I think I am going to build or modify something like this. I would just have to modify the bottom cabinets on this one. The idea, would be to fill the entire 8 foot space. I am thinking going black for the color and go for contrast over trying to match. Now I just need to decide on what the bottom cabinets need to do and look like.

This is my take on it. I don't think you are hurting resale at all and might improve your chances. There are so many people who are looking for an RV with workspace and there just are not a ton of options out there. I think it would be a positive differentiator, but that is because it looks like you are going to do excellent work that does not look thrown together. I don't think the demand for workspace in an RV is going away soon as even those in my daughters' generation (more than just a few) are moving that direction.

Agreed! That is where I have settled on the subject as well. Now I am debating whether I make it removable.

Here is the final pricing for 24' x 102" of linoleum flooring. I actually did find the same product online. The problem is that they did not sell the product at 102". If I did find the width, I would have to buy 500' of it.......so this is a deal...LOL!! Let this be a lesson to all...don't put too long of a screw in your slide outs!!

The money is not as bad as the time you spent. Glad you found it! I missed that you put too long of a screw in. That stinks.
