Great info. We just purchased a new 2024 Valor 42v13 yesterday. We are not hooked to shore power. The generator starts and runs but we are not getting any 120v power. Is there a separate transfer switch or is this function taken care of in the power converter?
Experienced RC’s, first one with solar and generator.

Should have made the tech show us it worked during the walk down.

TIA
As Bozo suggested, ensure that the Genset breakers are on. They are located within the genset housing.
To answer your question, there is a transfer switch when your unit is equipped with a genset.
Do you have the option to hook to shore power? If so, and your unit works as expected, your issue would come down to lack of genset output(or breakers tripped) or a transfer switch not changing the path to your breaker panel.

Thanks for the quick replies! I was helping my son over the phone, and although he thought he checked the breakers, he was looking at the wrong thing. He is a Rv newbie, so I ran over with my meter and confirmed shore power. Then found the gen breakers in the off position!
If there is a transfer switch, can anyone point me towards its location? I didn’t see it. The owners manual, which is pretty bad, does not describe the transfer switch or location.

I don’t get why Rv manf can’t at least give a one-line diagram of the electrical system. Or the p&id or the water systems!

Thanks for the help. Just picked it up yesterday and maiden voyage coming up quick.

Does your trailer have an inverter? If so, some inverters have an integrated transfer switch which would explain why you can't find it.

So, each model could have different locations, our 310RL has it located behind the door side basement wall.
I can only guess on a Valor, but a sure fire way to locate it would be to follow the shore power cord and the genset output line, both will lead you to it.

Thanks for all the help. The dealer said there was no inverter, which makes some sense to me. Almost everything in the trailer is 12VDC, except the microwave, AC, and TV I believe. The power convertor literature lead me to believe that the transfer function might occur in it, but once I looked it over, there is only one 50A breaker. There must be a tranfer switch somewhere.

They were trying to get the AC running and the trailer was not parked near a 50A service. We had it plugged into a 20A 120V conv outlet to charge the batteries.

I found another post that recommended letting one ac run for awhile before starting the 2nd one, which worked. I’m thinking soft starts on the AC’s is going to be in the future, along with an inverter if they are going to do much boondocking.

There is a transfer switch, in the case of my Valor it is on the top of the pass through.
