I can't dispute that there isn't always room for improvement. But I would have to know more about the entire structure to decide if it's a design flaw. How big are the sheets? how are the rafters laid out ?
Would moving the seam require an additional sheet or a additional rafter? Could the AC units be simply moved a bit or does that impact things on the roof like solar panels? Is that location optimal for the AC performance?
Is it as simple as the assembly worker who is paid by the piece for got to trim the divider? Or is pumping out units a quickly as possible more of a priority than the details!

In order for it to be a design flaw it would have to interfere with the proper operation of the unit or RV as a whole.
The trim is more aesthetic than anything it's intended purp[ose is all about looks and has no impact on the function of the RV.
If all really talking about is a divider strip I won't go as far as to call it a design flaw. The RV industry does not build to precision.
RV's are all sort of a work in progress. I doubt any to RV's built on different shifts by different crews are: wired , plumbed or assembled exactly the same!
Just look at all the loose jumbled wires running through the basement area. No precision there!

I'm not criticizing there methods but I understand how the arbitrarily the RV is assembled I don't expect all the minute details to be addressed because the assembly process is very random.
I agree there is room for improvement, but there are more critical areas to improve upon, like simply the OEM tires they install vs. where the ceiling panels are seamed. I'm just hoping the AC keeps up on a hot day, doesn't leak or trip the breaker,starts up via my portable Lp generator and last at least 10 years. Where the seams are located is low on my priority list. Too many other things to worry about!
