Thanks that is Good to knowThey are 100% RV specific, due to not requiring an enclosed gang box like your home outlets do. Do not try to put a GFI that is meant for your home in your RV.
Here is one on Amazon

You're correct...that is the wrong item for sure. Here is one that is self contained, but it is not a GFI. Wonder if the GFI needs a box, and then the others that are protected by the GFI can be these self-enclosed...???I think you are mistaken. That outlet represented in the link above must be mounted in a box or enclosure. The depth might be different than a residential box, but with those exposed terminals any other installation method would be unsafe, very unsafe. It would have to be a fully enclosed device to avoid mounting to a box which does not seem possible with its design. You’ll notice there are screws to attach to a box and screw holes to receive a face plate.
If there is a box, and it is deep enough to accept say a GE GFI from Lowe’s, as long as the voltage and amps are proper it could be used.
The loads/outlets downstream of the GFI would be protected and the self enclosed outlets would be fine to use all things be equal regarding voltage and amperage. You're correct...that is the wrong item for sure. If it were me, I would use this one if the voltage and amps are aligned to the circuit being installed on and if it will be mounted in either a box or outdoor enclosure. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton...White-1-Pack-EGFW1-KW-R02-EGFW1-0KW/331483348N

Now I’m confused?
is the Amazon link you sent me for the black gfi the one I should use in my paradigm? It looks like the one I just got replaced?
thanks
