Gen Y

I didn’t want the gooseneck even though it’s convenient for the truck bed. I put the Gen Y executive pin box on today and made an adjustment to my b and w hitch before we put the Morryde independent suspension on .

Curious to see how it handles.
I'm going with the Gen Y gooseneck.
I think the sold me to stuff of a unit. I thought I needed the 4500 but that said 5500. It doesn’t move…. I know it needs break in but it doesn’t move at all the lines stay lined up over train tracksIMG_4797.jpeg

When I bought mine (goose version), GenY told me I should use the 6.5k for my 4.6k pin. I was skeptical all the way home from the factory as it was a much rougher ride than my TrailAir was. It takes at least 1,000 miles to really break in in my experience. It is a pretty good ride now, but I am dialing in my airbags on my truck still, so it will only get better. I have IS on my SOB, too, so that probably helps but had it from the factory before the move to GenY.

Yes at first I swear it was like a solid pin box. I couldn’t see any movement at all. 220 miles and I can see it moving a little now and the line I put on it when it was new has lowered a bit taking up a bit of the preload. I think it will be ok😐

Oh and any advice on the air bags I’ll take also 😎
I installed the AirLift 7500XL on my truck with the onboard compressor. At the time, I had a level on my truck and needed to offset the sag. I recently removed the level, so will be adjusting pressure way down I expect. I just went with the single pressure system as opposed to being able to adjust either side independently. My current pin weight is around 4600# for reference.

I have the air lift with onboard compressor and it’s the dual side adjustable one. I took it off my single rear wheel when I sold it and put it in my dually. I could get away without it but I run 40-45lbs in it towing and ten when not towing. Ten turns to 27 when I add the pin weight (3500). Keeps the truck level. I have the overload springs so I could get away without it…….

500 miles in. Hard as a rock. Stuff all over in the closet. I really don’t understand why they told me 5500 lb when my tongue weight is 3500. That actual scaled weight. They only go by the five x .22 which puts me into the 5500 model over the 4500 model by 80 lbs. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Reese model I had with the airbag but if this doesn’t improve fast that’s goin back on. I had to lower the air bags on the truck from 50 to 30 just to stop my tail bone pain from the gen Y stiffness.

I have read several reports of the same, people saying they really second guessed the change until it broke in. Then they sing the praises. Hopefully yours will even out soon.

Black line is original preload when hitched. Was so stiff the fifth wheel horse show plate was angled upwards in the back. The red line is the current loaded preload on the torsion runners. Getting better😄IMG_4840.jpeg
