Dust cap for camera prep on exterior of rear wall

I'm using the 12v wiring intended for a rear camera to power a flag pole light. When I installed my light I barely touched the dust cap for the rear camera prep and it fell to the ground. It was barely hanging on.
I mention this to folks that do not intend to ever use this prep. You should seal around the cap to prevent water intrusion into your rear wall. A few drops might get past the cap but if it falls off...

Is it easy to install a light back there? Will the camera switch on the control panel turn the light on and off?
I can’t think of a reason why you couldn’t install a light back there instead of a camera, just stay within the circuit rating and seal up any wire/ screw holes that would be needed.

Very easy. As Bryan said stay within the circuit rating (most any LED landscape light will be within the rating). I don't know what circuit the camera prep is on but all the 12vdc wiring seems to be 14/2 and the fuses are 15 amp.
I used a dusk-to-dawn photocell on a landscape light and I turn off the "camera" when there is no flag to light. I used a cable clam to seal the hole. Search Amazon for "Blue Sea Systems 1007 Side Entry CableClam, White". I fab'ed a flat plate of aluminum to mount the photocell and light to the ladder with u-bolts.
