Control panel awning switches not working!

Bought my Paradigm 385FL on April 10th from Madison, WI. Drove it home to Virginia the following day. A couple days later I opened up the slides and wanted to extend the awnings, but neither switches at the main control panel worked - they did during our pre-purchase walk-thru! The second set up switches located in the pass-thru storage compartment work just fine. I contacted Alliance and they sent me two new switches. I was doubtful that was the problem as they worked fine before and having two go bad at once is unheard of. I swapped the switches and as expected - no change. Fuses are good. I used my Fluke and found voltage across the various connection points of the switches. See the attached diagram.

Anyone have any suggestions? Alliance is now telling me to take it to the nearest authorized dealership, but that's 100 miles away. Switch.jpg

rkmurtland,

It sounds as though you have lost continuity on one of the wires and since it is both switches the ground may be lost. Just wait a bit as there are some pretty good electrical folks on here to help.

Good luck,

Check the same testing procedure on the back of the working ones and verify the panel ones are wired the same. Are you sure there are not two other posts on the back of the switch likely jumped diagonally? It should be a DPDT switch that reverses polarity on the center row of posts to operate the motor in extend or retract.

Test across the switch. Activate the switch. If the voltage drops low, I'd bet on a bad ground. Whatever it is, I'd also bet it's close to the interior panel since the exterior still works. I'd also focus on any shared returns, feeds, Wagos, etc, near the panel.
