Any advice from current users appreciated. Want to downsize from 31ft bunkhouse travel trailer and upgrade to 5th wheel.

Hi Gary, we are also new to the forum and recently purchased a 2026 Avenue 23ML. We are getting it ready for a trip to Tucson for the next several months. There were a few QC issues with our rig (e.g, refrigerator needs leveling, King pin needs to be adjusted to level on our truck) but generally we have been happy with our purchase (coming from a very nice Lance 1985 trailer). The trip south will be the big test, and like you, depending on how it rides, we may look for other options for our King pin. The Pullrite Superglide hitch we had installed chucked a bit more than we like but a simple adjustment (
) resolved this problem. Good luck on your decision!

Thanks—I am probably going to get a GenY gooseneck hitch. Much more space in the truck bed and don’t need a slider hitch for short bed truck.

Love that hitch, but it does like to chuck? Find myself adjusting after every long trip. Have you found a fix for that?

We have only used it once but getting ready for our first long trip so will report back. I will say that it did chuck during the first trip and I'm hoping this adjustment (video) will fix it.

Also, don’t have to remove a big/heavy hitch when not pulling 5th wheel.
We have a short-bed RAM 2500, so this hitch was our best option. However, I'm not looking forward to removing the hitch when not in use....very heavy!

I leave mine in year round. Helps in snow having weight over the back wheels.
i start out with hitch tight, few days it starts chucking worse, I just adjust it on the road.

Hey Gary, we also just bought a 2026 23ML... were you looking specifically for hitch info (we have a B&W Patriot), or did you have other questions about the 23ML? We've had it less than a month and only had it out for a week... love the layout and FW (have always had TTs), only two issues we've found so far is a failed bathroom grey tank valve/cable (thankfully stuck open!), and one of the recliners has some bent framing in the leg rest. Otherwise, everything working great right now, pulls nice, and very comfortable as a couple's FW.
