Bath sink faucet aerator

Our bathroom sink aerator wasn't allowing enough flow to start the water heater. After trying the special tools I ended up breaking it out only to find there were no threads, it appears it was pressed in. I found the exact size at a hardware store but was unable to press it in, it was easier just to replace the faucet. Just a heads up for anyone having a similar problem.

The factory faucet was unable to simply screw off the aerator head...allowing you to rinse it out? Not sure I have ever seen that.

Don't know what happened but it would not unscrew. I purchased a couple of wrench sets none would slip inside between the aerator and the housing. I tried to push the closest one against the aerator and turn but it just wouldn't turn. The aerator was green I purchased a green one and it matched in size to the one removed but it was to large to just go in the housing. First time I've run across this issue.
