Bath sink faucet aerator

Our bathroom sink aerator wasn't allowing enough flow to start the water heater. After trying the special tools I ended up breaking it out only to find there were no threads, it appears it was pressed in. I found the exact size at a hardware store but was unable to press it in, it was easier just to replace the faucet. Just a heads up for anyone having a similar problem.

The factory faucet was unable to simply screw off the aerator head...allowing you to rinse it out? Not sure I have ever seen that.

Don't know what happened but it would not unscrew. I purchased a couple of wrench sets none would slip inside between the aerator and the housing. I tried to push the closest one against the aerator and turn but it just wouldn't turn. The aerator was green I purchased a green one and it matched in size to the one removed but it was to large to just go in the housing. First time I've run across this issue.

Interesting indeed....I would have done the same and replaced the fixture, with a major brand that will be supported. I also replaced my shower fixture with a residential mixer....all brass.

This post appears to be dated a few weeks however I’m finding myself in the same situation. I can’t get the water heater to initiate in the bathroom sink only. It works everywhere else so I highly suspect that it’s poor flow at the bathroom faucet. I don’t see any indentations to use a key or removal tool to remove the aerator. It does look like it could be pressed in but that would certainly be a silly way to design a faucet, even a very cheap one!

There is a recent post somewhere on here where an owner did remove the aerator, and replaced it successfully, after having a problem that I think was similar to yours. They found a bunch of plastic shavings presumed to be from manufacturing that were restricting flow. The point I am trying to make is that there may be a "trick" to getting those aerators out.

As I recall there were no threads in the faucet but then my memory isn’t what it used to be. You may be able to remove the hot And cold lines under the sink then use compressed air to blow the aerator clear.

Did you try to grab the end of the faucet on the outside and unscrew it? I believe there’s a what you know Wednesday video that shows this.

There is no part of the aerator that is below the faucet to grab on to, the entire aerator is internal. The new faucet has the internal aerator and came with the tool to unscrew.
