37v13 Awning tearing off

Wondering if anyone could tell me if this would warrant Alliance fixing. We have not used our awning at all and then went to go use it for the first time and it is starting to tear off on both sides from the led light strip. Any suggestions? I'm outside my warranty already and after only having the trailer for 18 months I'd rather not spend a couple grand on replacing awnings

Sorry, you have experienced this issue. It would be worth a phone call to Alliance, ultimately the decision would be their’s and the manufacturer of the awning.

I can tell you there is no way you would spend a couple of grand to replace them however I agree with an email to Alliance.
If you do have to replace the awning on your own dime I would suggest looking at Tough Top:

Thanks for the link I'll keep those in mind. I only said a couple grand because I factored into replacing my back one at same time to avoid similar issue and of course labor for that can be pricey :)

Mine is doing the same, but just on one side. I tried tape, but it didn't work. I am considering, cutting it along the LED strip holding it and reattaching it again. I think that would be the easiest fix. If I cut it along the strip, does anybody know if it is spring loaded and will wind or unwind if cut free from the strip?

I was thinking of using a small strip of automotive double sided tape to attach and then clear tape on top

There was a recall of the Lippert awnings used on our rigs for this very problem. Please check with Lippert. You will need the serial number off of any awning on your rig. There is a specific series of serial numbers that was affected by faulty "connection" between the fabric and the piece that slides into the rail.

I called my dealer for an inspection. Turns out that the rear awning had been replaced for that fault already and turns out the front was also part of that recall. In the end turns out that it was replaced for free. Thanks for everyone's input.

You might reach out to Alliance and Lippert. As Mike indicated there was a NTSA recall on awnings a while back. They were separating at the seem.

This applies to Valor’s as well.
Thanks for the tip and my apologies on the lengthy reply. Lippert ended up covering the replacement of both awnings and they're a different design than the originals. I ended up helping with the repair. Relatively simple job that took us 2.5 hours start to finish. Awnings are functioning perfectly since the repair/replacement.

Glad to hear things worked out!

no problems yet with our 2024 32 RLS. I have seen these things tear in those corners even on the Brinkley trailers. I think it's just bad fabric or vinyl that they are using. also, when we close our awning when we're on the move I close it all the way and then I hit the button a couple times to let it out just a little bit to let the pressure off of it and it's not twisting and pulling where it could tear. it's just to release a little bit of the tension. don't know if this will help anybody else but that's what we do and it works so far.
