2500 Ram 4X4 w/ 26RD

Hello everyone,
I have a Travel Trailer now and I'm really interested in going to a 26RD. I never had a 5th wheel before and have some worries. I read on this forum where the 26RD height at the hitch is 62" high. I went to a dealer and looked at a 26RD where it was setting in a stone parking lot (not sure if it was perfectly level) and it was 59" high. My tow vehicle is a 2022 Ram 2500 4x4, Long Bed, w/Off Road Package and the bed of my truck is 59" high. Am I missing something here? Seems I would have no clearance between bed of truck and RV. I'm reading you should have 6" minimum. Does anyone know what the true height of this RV is? Would this RV be way too nose high for my Ram if I have to raise it 6" and is that even possible? Anyone here running this combination: 26RD w/ 2022 Ram 2500 4x4? I would love for this setup to work but don't want to spend a lot of money to make it ride level. 🤔

I have a 2019 ford f250 4x4. My bed is 40" of the ground. I have a BW companion 5th in the lowest setting. It tow relatively level and I have about 3" clearance on the sides of the bed.

I thought they say 6" minimum from bed to RV.
Isn't 3" kind of close? How long have you been traveling with it like that?
If your truck is only 40" high and you only got 3" of clearance, my truck at 59" high is never going to work.

Did you ever find a way to make it work? We are new owners of an Avenue All-Access 29RL. My 2024 RAM 2500 is also 59" high, as is the height of the overhang of the 29RL when level. We use a B&W Companion hitch, and our camper is way too nose-high (well over 13') when towing, and the rear of the camper is too low. I'm afraid it would drag on an incline.

We just purchased a 29RL. Our RAM 2500 4x4 (short bed) sits high off the ground (stock) so that the trailer front is high. I had to raise the pin box all the way up (lowers the trailer front) and that leveled the trailer. However, our pin box on the Companion Slider hitch is right at the tailgate when in the back position so I had to adjust the hitch so it sits 3" more forward due to the MORYDE pin box being longer than my last pin box.

Same issue with my 2024 F250 SD. I ordered and installed this kit from etrailer.com. It says triple axle but you need all 12 brackets for a double axle to lift the trailer 2 1/4 inches. There is a disclaimer that this kit does not work with Moryde CRE3000 equalizers, but in the Q&A, an entry from Brian on 9/4/24 details the mods that can be done to make it work (including replacing the wet bolts with longer ones). I took a chance and followed that advice, and yes, it does work. I made the mods, installed the kit on my Avenue 29RL, and have driven over 1500 miles, when I took it back to Elkhart to have the rear wall replaced after I did this to it (see photo) coming down my driveway on the day I brought it home from the dealer. I also installed bolt-on skid wheels and told Alliance not to install a rear ladder because it hangs below the bumper.

I managed to bend a leveling jack as well. They are just too low:oops:.....I could not just observe that they are too low to the ground. I had to prove it!...LOL :)

Yeah, still kicking myself in the head for it. I even did some flawed slope math to assure myself it would be fine. It's better now with the lift kit and no ladder on the back. The other benefit of the lift is that the jacks are also 2.25 inches higher.

I solved the problem by replacing the truck with a RAM 3500 Cummins long bed. I didn't like the way the 2500 had to work so hard towing up a very slight incline on I-85 in NC, and didn't want to try it in WV or Colorado. The new truck came with a factory MOPAR hitch, and it's perfect as it was set up at the factory. I have 6" clearance with the bed rails and am essentially level when hitched up. I'm trying to sell the B&W hitch.
