We are towing our Avenue with a 2023 GMC 2500. Very pleased. The truck has a 3280 payload which handle the 2300 pin of our 30RLS.

We've been really pleased with the 30 RLS. We like the layout. It is shorter in length, which has been very nice to maneuver and some of the tighter campgrounds. But with three slides. It has plenty of storage and room inside.

Our last trailer weighed in at 15k. With tandem 7k axles. (14k). We had a 3k pin weight. So technically only 12k was sitting on the trailer axles and 3k was sitting on the truck...when hooked up.

What section of sites are held for the rally?

We have had a few Rallies at DrummerBoy. Nice place. Easy access of rt 15. We stayed in the back pull-thru sites. Pretty far from the entrance of the campground though.

We had an Anderson for about 5 years and 25,000 miles. Pulling a 15,000 lb 5er. Really liked the hitch. Smooth, no chucking and easy to hitch and unhitch. With the Avenue, I am using a non-slider B&W Companion now. GMC standard bed. No turning issues so far.

We have a 30RLS. We were really surprised how quiet the ACs are. They do not disrupt normal conversation or tv listening. We placed a small fan on the floor of the hallway right outside the bedroom. It really pushed a lot of the cool air from that small space down into the kitchen.

No, we do not. Never had enough vacation time to go long enough to need to do laundry. Lol.

Our 23 GMC 2500 handles our Avenue quite well.

Not cut...but pinched closed. Causing the fridge not to work on propane when the slide was closed. I had to enlarge the entry point and redo the bracing that was pinching the lines when closed. Poor design and no thought given to placement of the lines!!

Watch going to 17.5 inch tires. When we switch from our 16s to 17.5. The tire height was actually 3/4" lower on the 17.5s.

Yep. The pantry door only has a small clearance from the slide out. Haven't figured out a better way yet.

2023 GMC

We also have an Avenue 30RLS. We were researching a new to vehicle purchase over the last few months. It was down to a GMC or Ram. With the ram 6‘4“ box, I would definitely consider a slide or hitch of some sort.

Surprisingly low. The slight hum of the Cummins motor is louder than any road noise I get.

Running Goodyear DuraTracs on my Ram. Just hit about 20k miles on them. Still look good.

Ram has had the exhaust brake since 2007.5.

Please, research everything you can. And do not take my word for it at all. But, here is a tow guide for 2007. My 2007.5 Ram 3500 ST long bed DRW with a 6.7 Cummins 4:10 gear ratio in automatic transmission only had a 15,400 pound tow rating. I think it was slightly higher with a 2007 5.9...

Just watch. I had a 2007.5. First year of the 6.7 Cummins. That 2007 was rated less in most categories than the newer single rear wheel trucks. It is amazing how far they’ve come in the last 6-8 years.

Do you think you will still be able to make tighter turns with the Gen Y? (90°) Ram having the shortest short bed of the big 3 at 6’4” And the Avenue being 101”wide. I’m just curious….

Congrats!!! We just finished our first season with our 30RLS.

The ACs are very quiet. Rather surprising. They are direct dump. No issues holding a quiet conversation or watching the TV at low volumes.

I thought I heard that you were not allowed to lock up propane compartments. That is one of the reasons the factory does not put locks on those doors. Have you ever heard anything on that?

We can access all 3 areas with the slides closed. Depending on fridge type, you can access freeze and 1 door of fridge. We have stayed over night with all slides in comfortably. Shower and all.

It was a generic PDI. I received more information from watching YouTube videos. I haven’t taken the rig back to General. I have managed to fix most of the issues we had/have.

We ordered ours last year at the Hershey Show. General RV was the dealer.

We have a 30rls. I think GVRW is 12k. Taking a standard 20% for pin weight, that would be 2400 lbs just in pin weight. Then add weight of hitch, fuel, passages etc….

It was a pain adjusting the awning pitch. I had to get on a ladder and really work the tabs while I pulled on the awning arm to release pressure. I eventually got all 4 set to the lowest setting, adding the most pitch to the awnings. They are staying there. Not adjusting back. Lol.

We stayed at our first 30amp campground yesterday since we picked up our Avenue. We were able to run both aACs on 30amps. Not much of anything else. But it did work.

Also, if you look into Ram, there is a difference in motor/Transmission and rear suspension between the 2500 & 3500. You can only get the HO Cummins & Aisin Transmission in the 3500. The 2500 has the standard 68rfe transmission and Cummins with a little less torque #s. The 3500 has leaf...

Depending how far you want to go back, you can get diesels pre DEF fluid. I hear say of a possible shortage on that in the future.

Just a note. Ford (not sure of Ram & GM) is not taking anymore order for the 2022 HDs. I believe GM changes to 2023 in July/Aug. Something to think about.

We have had very good luck with Ram for the last 15 years. No complaints. Price was right and they are towing beasts. That being said. You will not have any issues with any of the Big 3. All very nice and extremely capable of towing an Avenue. Just watch your payload capacity if you go with...

Do not need and will not pay for all the bells and whistles. I only put on 5-6k miles a year. Just pretty much only used to tow the trailer. It has all we need to tow great and drive comfortably.
