Pantry shelves

we have a new 2024 avenue 37MBR our first trip out was only 25 miles and one of the pantry shelves collapsed, and on the return trip home a second shelf collapsed Nd broke in half, they had very little weight on them at the time. Has anyone else had this same problem?
I have spoken to the dealer and the company and they are going to replace them, but they say they will be constructed the very same way as before, so looks like I will have to buy some plywood to reinforce them myself or this will continue to be a problem.

What was on there? I know you said not much weight, but in reality, what do you think the weigth was? Having 2 break on the same trip, make it feel like the shelf was overloaded.

We added a center support running from side to side. As well as added additional fasteners around the sides.
We did not have any shelf failures, but we could see the shelves bow when we added weight of canned good and other heavier items.

Keeping weight more to the edges where the support is should also help. Some day I'm going to get to a scale and find out weights on all the wheels so I can balance the load. I have a suspicion our pantry is on the heavy side.

Definitely not over loaded, just poorly made shelves (very light weight and cheap material), with way to much room for the shelves to move around from side to side and front to back, to stay on the clips.
Trip no. 2, i have reinforced the shelves with real wood and made them a little wider so they have less wiggle room, this time the shelves did not break but still fell, when we get home am going to try securing the clips to the walls with screws and see if that keeps them in place. I know it don’t help that driving on some of our interstates is like driving an off road course.

We didn't need the amount of storage the pantry offers so removed a shelf to convert the lower level into a place to hang our coats. I knew it would get heavy so supported the bar from the floor. Since you are breaking shelves and adding weight to prevent that happening I would suggest you should support from the floor.

As for the "pantry" shelving, I will say it's awful to say the least. Hasn't split or broke yet and it won't after I make it stronger. I have more complaints as for workmanship quality. I kick myself, our previous travel trailer was a Cougar. I should have kept it.😞

Had a shelf break on our 29 RL on our 1st long trip. Wife did have a double metal shelf on it and lots of "heavy items" on it as well. Did not break in half but broke sides and all the Staples pulled out and it just fell apart. Always carry Gorilla glue, small nails and a hammer. 30 min at a picnic table and looked good as new. Let it set up and installed next AM and with a little guidance on. Loading we are good once again. Builders at Alliance could use a little glue on the shelves and it would go a long way to making them hold up better is my thoughts. Mike

Not sure they know what glue is used for, or where. They can't even get staples in the right places. Buy them books and all they do is eat the pages...
