Leaving the fridge door open when RV is idle

My house fridge runs 24/7....never any mold....my RV fridge runs 24/7....The only time I had mold was when the GFCI popped off and it took 2 weeks to notice it (Storage warehouse)....Maybe I must also add, that I am a neat freak, food nazi, and camp cook...LOL

I leave a home size dehumidifier running in between camping trips. I can open the fridge side door but the freezer side is against the island and can't be opened. No problems with mold. We do have 110V power at storage.

If someone is worried about mold in the refer they do sell dehumidifier bags that could be put in the refer and then close the doors. I don't think this is practical for the entire trailer.

Agree. I'm in North Texas and we have a little humidity! LOL. I keep our dehumidifier in the kitchen sink with the drain line in the sink. I keep it on basement/high mode. Worked very well so far.

For years with all our RV’s we put a box of arm and hammer for the fridge when not in use to reduce mildew.

Are you in Florida? Don't get me wrong the Mid Atlantic gets plenty hot and humid in the summer. But no doubt about it Florida is hotter versus where I'm at in the summer?

Did some quick research. It’s a long answer…short version is that in Florida “they” say humidity in the rig needs to be maintained at 45 60%. Temperature is unimportant. The dry cycle is better than the cooling cycle. A few different sources say it’s best practice. Thanks for making me confirm the why!
