Do I really need an inverter generator for my 310RL

That seems a little unusual as the 5000W has been out and is a proven generator. Just 800W difference doesn't seem like a marketable idea unless they plan on dropping production of the 5000W.
I don’t think the wattage is why it’s so hyped, but good point. It’s an inverter generator, sine wave, -60 decibels, dual fuel and supposedly very light. Going off memory.

Have not seen the weight of the 4200W but the 5000W is only 105 lbs. I take it!
This is what google says about the specs. A lot lighter.

  • Performance: ~3,200 Running Watts / ~4,200 Starting Watts (Dual Fuel: Gas & Propane).
  • Weight: ~66 lbs (significantly lighter than the 3500-watt model).
  • Engine/Type: Inverter generator, super quiet, with 20% more starting power.
  • Fuel/Runtime: Operates on both gasoline and propane.
  • Technology: Eco-Throttle mode for fuel efficiency and quiet operation

The Predator 5000-Watt Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator (Item 71367/70143) is a super-quiet, portable unit providing 5000 starting watts (3900 running watts on gasoline) and 3600 running watts on propane. It features a 224cc engine, electric start with remote fob, CO Secure technology, and exclusively 120V power. Core Specifications (Predator 5000 Inverter):
  • Engine: 224cc.
  • Fuel Type: Dual-Fuel (Gasoline / Propane).
  • Starting/Running Watts (Gas): 5000 / 3900.
  • Starting/Running Watts (Propane): 4700 / 3600.
  • Voltage: 120V Only (No 240V).
  • Outlets: Standard 120V, TT-30R (RV Ready), and USB ports.
  • Weight: ~130-132 lbs.

Not sure where some of the the above info came from but I have a predator 5000 it feels heavier than 105#.

The specs I posted were related to the upcoming 4200, but not official. I think they were taken from Predator’s launch video by google.

Northern tool 4500 inverter genset specs. listed below . I'm not sure if info is really useful for comparing a totally different model for a totally different brand but for comparison sake I imagine specs. should be close enough for government!

For the record 100# is about my limit for being able to load easily. Above 100# is heavy and can't easily be manhandled.
However with a ramp my Predator 5000 is manageable @ 132#.
For comparison sake my Wen 3600 Dual fuel weigh 50#. Much easier to man handle and move around.
For me at this stage in the RV game weight is probably a bigger factor than power.
If the unit has enough power to run 1 A/C for the most part I can survive. If I can lift it in and out without ramps its a winner.

Not sure where I got the 105# but I don't man handle mine anyway. Just wanted a gen set that would run 2 A/Cs.
The 5000W Predator does that for my Furrion Chill Cube as they take much less amperage than Coleman Mach I had on other RV.
Can't attach a photo but I mounted mine in a basket into the rear hitch and secured with a cable and tie down straps. Doesn't move and very secure. Within easy range of the electrical connection on left side of RV. Barely hear it inside when running. Easy peasy!!
