Crack under slide.

Just noticed yesterday after having my valor 40v13 in for a recall. There's a crack started underneath the bottom right corner of the bedroom slide. Anyone else having issues here?

I will take a picture and post tonight.

Thanks

This looks like they may have created a stress point when cutting out for the slide out. It doesn't take much of a miscut in a corner like that to allow a stress crack to form. Another possibility but less likely imo, that wall may not have all of the support it needs (bad weld, popped screw head, whatever) and if the frame is not solid, the motor could cause enough stress moving the slide all the way out if the button is pressed and held for a bit (which is what LCI says you should do).

This is the second one I have seen like this. Last summer we ran into some people that were taking there's back to factory with frame issues that needed to be repaired.

Hmmm…..one could really get riled up over this. My plans were to keep this unit for 5-6 years and get into a used diesel push… They have very robust chassis…we shall see how this holds up.

Yes I have the same Crack and I have one over the top of the TV slide. The TV slide Crack has been repaired once by the previous owner. I tried to get alliance to fix it and they told me to pound sand. They won't honor the warranty if your not the original purchaser. Even if they fixed it the first time.

Has anyone checked with their State Dept of Transportation to see if they would deem the unit unsafe to transport due to frame flex and have your insurance total the unit and go buy something else?

Why would insurance pay for a possible design issue? Insurance will generally require a define incident to base a claim from. You shouldn't just show up and say something is broken and be surprised when they deny the claim.

Hey all, I know I'm resurrecting an old thread but if anybody happens to still be following it...what did you all do to fix or mitigate the corner crack issue? I have a 2022 Valor 42v13 and just found the same thing under my front bedroom slide bottom right corner. I had seen a very very slight crack starting on the inside of the wall a year ago and just found over my last couple travel days that it's spread to the outside and is getting noticeably longer with each drive day. I do not have a factory warranty though I do have an aftermarket one. Is it something that's overly fixable or is it something where i should drill a small hole to stop it from running and just fill it and maybe paint match the best i can and hope it stops or have you all found there to be structural issues inside the wall with broken welds or something due to insufficient bracing of the bed during travel?

Thank you all in advance,

Ben

You may need to take to alliance factory. There have been many people with this problem. Should be able to search this site and find more info.

On that note…..I may sell mine before it happens to mine. This brand is no different than the others.

This is a good, valid, point. I'm wondering if the RV industry, in general, is working towards the impossible. That is, trying to make a product that can withstand the rigors of being towed on the national road system. The end user is left with solving suspension failures, brake inadequacies, frame flexing, etc, etc, and so on. We are left trying different trucks, suspensions, brakes and hitch combinations to keep from shaking the bejesus out of the complete infrastructure. Yet...we still buy them.
