My wife and I are starting to plan a long trip (4 weeks) up to South Dakota and then over to Wyoming this July. I've watched a few youtubes and done some reading, but I'm curious if anyone on here has been to that area and has suggestions for some good RV parks in that area.

I've found a few in the area:
Game Lodge Campground
Mount Rushmore KOA at Palmer Gulch
Oreville Campground
Big Pine Campground

My hope is to pick a place to stay and do day trips around to the various sites (Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Sturgis, Deadwood, etc), but I'm not even sure if that's realistic or not yet, so I'd welcome suggestions on that as well.

Thanks!

Been up that way many times and we have found that getting near Custer,SD is much better as far as less people and nicer campgrounds. You will enjoy the area and make sure that you drive the wildlife loop. CustersGulch was where we stayed last summer and was very pleased with the sites and amenities. Saw almost a 1000 bison on it last year with our G daughter. 7ACMike

When in South Dakota, you should stop over at the Rafter J Ranch, RV park, near Hill City. This is a wonderful RV park and very centrally located, so daytrips to everything in the area is possible. We have been up there 3 times over the years, and stayed there about a week, each time. I highly recommend it. You can check out their website for more info. If you go, be sure and make reservations WAY in advance. We always have gone in June, but made our reservations in January!

We stayed at Heartland RV Park & Cabins. Just south of Rapid City in Hermosa. Close enough but just far enough away. They had food, music and dancing on Friday and Saturday. And wine tasting on Thursday. They also serve breakfast everyday. None of this was expensive. They honor a lot of club discounts, such as Passport America, Escapees, Good Sam and others including Military. RV Trip Wizard gave them 4.5 out of 5 stars from 311 reviews.

We loved that part of the country and can't wait to go back.
