United Shade E-Series Rollershade Help

One of my 2024 Avenue United Shade E-Series rollershades came completely unwound and I cannot figure out how to get it to rewind. I received a replacement from United Shade but out of the box, it came completely unwound and won't rewind. The instructions from the supplier warn not to let it come unwound but if it does to "reach up and turn the roller tube with your hand to release and raise the shade." These shades have a thumb wheel on one side to adjust the tension. Does anyone have experience with getting this type of shade to rewind and function again?

They are a pain in the rear! I have to take my valance shirting off to get at mine and try and get it to roll up again? I’ll let you know how it goes?

I called United Shade tech support and after talking with them they determined the replacement shade spring broke in shipment. Waiting on a 3rd shade...

Hi, I also had this issue one time with a rollershade being completely loose. The thumb wheel/tension knob is designed to assist in rewinding the shade, but when the spring inside is either broken (or damaged during shipping), it will not hold or rewind correctly. Another user in the same thread contacted United Shade support and found out that their replacement shade spring had failed during shipping.

If you were me, I'd contact the manufacturer and see if they'll send a replacement spring mechanism part rather than replacing the entire motor or shade. It could be cheaper and avoid a great deal of hassle.
I had my own shade problem repaired by a local company, and the repair facility did not want to replace it all either — only the bad part. If I were purchasing a service, I'd use Home Direct Blinds in Homestead, FL — they did well for me previously, so I feel confident they do a good job of shade repairs.
