Truck tire rotation

I’m pulling an alliance 340 rl with a f350 single axle truck. I run the air bags about 40psi. I go through a set of tires about 30000 miles. My last set was 275/65/20 Michelin defenders and lasted 29000 miles. I rotate them every 5000 miles front to back according to the tire shop
I found a new tire shop and put on Michelin defender platinums and he told me my tires were wearing bad because of how I rotated them. Here’s what he does.
After 5000 miles rotate them front to back. At the next 5000 cross them front to back Start over again front to back and so on. By doing each tire will be at every position. Front left back left front right etc
I’ll let you know how it works

Hi Tim, have you checked your trucks owners manual for the recommended pattern for tire rotation?
It is usually published in the manual. If someone else has come up with a better strategy so be it.
A general word of caution, some tires are directional so that would be a watch out if applicable to someone’s tires.

I know on a 2020 Ram 3500 you can only swap front to front and inside rear to outside rear because of the tire pressure monitoring system has a different frequency for the front and rear tires. I found that out the hard way when I rotated my front tires to the rear and the dash didn't read correctly. Of course I consulted the manual afterwards to find that out lol.

For a 2024 Ram DRW only rotate front-front, inner-inner, and outer-outer.

Not sure why that's any different/better than the recommended procedure of cross front to rear and straight rear to front every oil change.
