TPMS purchasing

Hi Jim,

Please help me understand what you describe; TST TPMS. I know what TPMS means but not TST. On our previous fifth wheel trailer I installed a TireMinder system with four transmitters and a signal booster. Is this similar to what you are describing?

I just bought a 252RL today. The shop didn't know much about the TMPS prep but the tech was able to locate the repeater, yellow box with a red LED mounted to the drivers side frame just in front of the axles. The dealer sold me a 507 screen for $71 (good deal!) and had to order 4 valve stem pressure sensors, about $200. So I should have this all setup for about $300 once all is done.

I did a bit of AI asking about the red cap stems and here was the answer I got back:

• Heavy-Duty Stems: The red-core stems mean your wheels are structurally ready to have cap sensors twisted right onto them without needing to upgrade the hardware at a tire shop.

@jschenck See if you can get one more sensor. Having one on the spare is nice, so you can monitor the pressure in the spare too.

I did a bit of AI asking about the red cap stems and here was the answer I got back:

• Heavy-Duty Stems: The red-core stems mean your wheels are structurally ready to have cap sensors twisted right onto them without needing to upgrade the hardware at a tire shop.

Now you tell me ... I just had my wheels converted to metal stems. Thankfully, that was only $15 for the stems and the install was free. The cap sensors have worked great. It's nice to see the temp and pressure at a glance.
