Tow vehicle

We just purchased a new Alliance Paradigm 382RK and are excited to get it home! We will need to purchase a truck to tow it. For those of you who own this model or a similar Paradigm, what truck, engine, axle ratio, and bed length do you recommend for safe, comfortable towing?

We are considering a Ram 3500 diesel, but would truly appreciate hearing what works well for you. Thank you!

Just toured the GM Duramax plant in Flint. Knowing one of the supervisors there - GM is going to increase the size of the Duramax to a 8.3 or 8.8 L engine. I was told that it will have a towing capability of 35,000 lbs.
But to answer your question - we pull our 385 wiht a 1 ton DRW and 4WD Ford with the powerstroke. Pulls very well and easily. Mileage isnt very good, but we live with it.

Congratulation, a dually of your choice is definitely in order here. 8 foot bed, Diesel, axle ratio, and tire size of your choice. Just remember a move to a higher numerical axle ratio will result in a higher cruising rpm. (More fuel burned).
OEM’s spend a lot of time validating powertrains to optimize performance and mpg. So the standard axle offering normally works well. However, they provide options, because folks want what they want based on how they will be apply the vehicle.

Agree 100% with BryanValRox comments,,,for your consideration we have a 2023 382RK we bought lightly used & was being sold due to unfortunate health changes. That is the truck those folks had for sale w it,,,,our dealer had it on consignment for them and the truck our dealer used to deliver ours to us on our property. Input from both parties felt lesser vehicles may be able to tow it but not comfortably,,,the 382RK load is also behind the dual axles which transfers weight distribution & balance differentply than center loaded rigs,,,👍🌞🍀

Open and Look on the drivers side door for the sticker showing how much weight it can carry. Take your gross trailer weight and multiply by 23-25% of that to determine the potential pin weight.

Just buying a duality won’t work. Buying the truck that can support the weight is the goal.

Diesel with high torque will make you happy for pulling.

Example: 18000 GVWR on the trailer = an approximate pin weight of: 4140lbs to 4500lbs. Make sure it will hold that and your passengers, stuff, fuel, etc.

My .02 updated for inflation, 6.95!

Enjoy

Like @2 Allies , we recently upgraded to a DRW. We were okay with a SRW, but barely. But we have a 340RL. The DRW is so much better.

I am 100 % the opposite of the tow police. Pretty much don’t care what anyone chooses. That said , like the others said, you pretty much need a DRW for your rig.
I'm OK with using whatever tow vehicle you want as long as it's safe. An unsafe tow vehicle can ultimately impact my safety if things go south.
Unfortunately, I occasionally do see towing combinations that I consider unsafe. The risk of an unsafe combo is not only on the driver of the combo but it is shared by everyone on the road with that combo.

As much as I enjoy our debates on this subject, not gonna do it (tongue in cheek humor)! Jim shut down our last exchange.

Agree on the safety element.

I get it and I don't believe for a second that you support unsafe combos.
But I just want to make the point that some people don't understand their combo is unsafe and the potential hazard they become for others.
Just hitch it up and go is not always sound advice.
