Has anyone added Softstart or a similiar product to their hvac unit? Is it worth the cost and do they work?

I installed the Coleman Mach brand on all 3 AC's. They drastically cut startup current. They supposedly increase the life of the compressor too. You can already run 2 AC's on 30A so whether it's worth it or not is a matter of opinion.

Sorry, it was early in the morning.... :ROFLMAO: I meant to say soft start, not surge protectors..... I still think you have this backward. Adding a surge protector (which is very valuable to do) will not have any impact on the 3 AC units starting abilities. You need soft starts for that.

I install a "Spartan" softstart from Inverters-r-us on all three of our AC units. Read the manual a few times to really understand. Once you have the cover off the AC unit, the wiring job is about 5 mins or less.
While you have the cover off...take another 5 mins and clean the AC units fins. It is crazy how fast those get dirty and make the unit work harder.

Looks like there are several brands claiming they are the best Softstart. Also, seen that Coleman Mach has there own version specifically for hvac’s like those on Paradigms, model 48000.
Friday morning…roof and AC cleaning.
Friday afternoon....you'll be washing the RV. It will get gross from the crap that comes off the AC units fins.
