Slide toppers

New RVer

I note some issues with slide toppers have been posted. I am preparing to take delivery on a brand new new 2024 Avenue. I opted for slide toppers, ordered by the dealer.
I was just informed that the door-side awning is installed too high to allow proper install of the add-on toppers. Dealer can relocate but then body work is required.
They recommend not using the slide topper…
Has anyone had a similar issue??
Resolution?

I always like a slide topper if you can get it. If you camp in a wet climat they are must have IMO. In Dry Climate camping you are ok with no topper but you will have increased heat on top of slide as well as a dirtier slide when you bring it in you will want to wipe it down.

i would probably go without on the one slide in order to not have to fill and patch holes in my new RV?

Not sure which Avenue you have .. but if like my 32rls (or 30rls would be the same), slide toppers fit fine. I've seen a few folks on here post that dealers make the claim yours is, but they are incorrect .. at least for sure on the 2 models mentioned above.

Our 24 32RLS slide topper has a minor issue with the height of the awning, All three toppers were loose when we picked it up but at the Alliance Rally they adjusted them all. Two are perfect, the one above the door-slide slide is a little flat; it fits but not have as much pitch as the other two. We are in rainy season in FL and just went through Hurricane Debby; all three worked well. The tech at the rally did say that we could consider cutting the slide mount down a little bit, that would position the lower side of the topper down to accommodate the run off. I will look into that more soon but, short answer - we love our slide toppers and will not be without them ever again,
