Slide out skis - what's best?

I need to replace the slide skis on my dinning table/couch slide. I have read that Alliance is using a wider vinyl ski without a front taper. Some folks are recommending stainless steel skis you can buy on Amazon. Any thoughts on what we should do would be helpful.

I would call Alliance to get one that is made for your RV. The one on Amazon will need to be cut to fit your slide.

You likely will need to cut the ones from Alliance as well. I replaced one that was damaged on our kitchen slide and had to cut it to fit.(Alliance Purchased)

This could be a maintenance point that could need revisited , if it failed once, it likely will fail again. So, why not consider an upgrade?

I think I will go the metal slide route if I need to address it again. In the mean time I make sure that I spray the ski bottom with slide lube before retracting each time. This helps it glide over those corner blocks, hopefully reducing the friction And extending it’s life.

I vote for the upgrade. We all know that manufacturer always goes the cheapest route, alliance is no different.

I wouldn’t see why not.

You might loose use of your rig for a while depending on the dealers ability to address it.

I was having work done my rig, and needed the kitchen slide skis replaced. So I had the Service department do them after ordering them from Alliance myself. I gave them the skis and they had no idea on how to install them. They claimed they contacted Alliance for advice, and they received information to install them with the screw side UNDER THE DAMN SLIDE! I told them that was a mistake, that the screws could damage my floor. They went forward with it.

Sure enough, the screw heads damaged the floor, AND the ski broke because it was bent against the floor (ie no sealant used). I had purchased 4 skis meaning to preventatively do the dinette slide (but they did not install them). Before my last trip, they replaced the ones they previously installed (no cost other than the 2 skis from me) and now that I back from my trip, they are now fixing my floor.

I really do not want to name them. Just be careful if you are not installing them yourself (looks real easy on the videos I see on YT).
