safety recall 23V701 for my 370FB

FYI....I was supposed to take my unit to a dealer to fix a wire nut connection on the solar panels on the roof. Luckily, I got up there and pulled the cover. It was a simple fix and wasn't going to go through the hassle of a dealership. It turns out, I saved myself a lot of time. My unit did not have the issue. So if you are so inclined, you may want to look at this before losing your rig to a dealership and losing the time taking it back and forth.

Up date to the recall fix. I sent the above picture to Alliance and they told me that it wasn't fixed, since the wire nuts are actually 12 inches into the ceiling. I couldn't pull that much from the top. I am glad that I pulled the roof cover though, because the only thing holding the cover on was the sealant. ALL THE SCREWS were stripped. This has been a common occurrence on my RV. They really need to up size their screws to something with greater clamping strength and sometimes length.

I was able to access the wiring through the light can in the bedroom on my 370FB. The lights are low profile LED's and simply have spring clips, so don't be afraid to pull on them.

Luckily, I must of had the A team wire mine, It was done correctly. So, before you take your RV to the dealer, you may be able to inspect or fix this issue from the inside of you unit.

My dealership said they completed the recall and I wanted to confirm for myself. I have been trying to find the wires through the pot light hole beside the middle AC but can’t seem to see them at all. Were they easy to find in your case?

If you have a 370FB, perhaps they didn't bury the excess wire as they did mine. I am a bit concerned, since you reference the middle ac unit. On a 370FB, my bathroom is under the most forward AC unit and not the middle unit. If you don't have a 370FB, then my experience will not help. I was glad I removed the cover on the roof, since the screws were stripped and only being held by caulk. I hope you can go the easy route!!

I have a 310 and for us it is supposed to be the pot light on the door side just ahead of the middle AC. It also happens to match your description of left pot light if facing the sink… I have seen other posts for the 310 where people pulled that pot light and saw the wires right away, but I don’t have that luck. Thanks for the help

Well, take a walk on the roof and see if there is new caulking. If there is new caulk, then they accessed from above. If they did, then I hope they put larger diameter screws in the cover. Wouldn't that be a refreshing dealer move...LOL. All the best!!

Haha well… you see… the problem is that my roof was replaced because of hail damage at the same time! Everything is new caulking!

Thanks and I will keep digging around the ceiling.
