Safe travel routes and trailer height?

I believe max permissible DOT height on trailers is 13'6". Thats why most if not all RV's are less than that. We use RV TW and Google to verify routes and have had no problems. Now the NE other than being the NE is old and has some very low bridges. If you follow an 18 wheeler, you'd be safe.

As do I. I prefer a paper map any day.
I agree paper maps have their place especially for planning purposes. However GPS is definitely beneficial I would Not totally ignore GPS options. Google Maps and waze does have its place especially for live traffic updates And current conditions. Garmin and other options are also useful. GPS also knows exactly where you are At a glance at any given time. These are things that paper maps are not able to do.
At the end of the day you cannot trust GPS options 100% and this is where the paper maps come into play.
However paper rely on the individual's ability to read them. With that in mind, I guess if you can trust yourself 100% paper maps are foolproof! LOL

I think reading, writing, and arithmetic are long lost arts these days. Compass and map are rare skills these days as well. I like maps so that I can visualize the route as I travel it vs strictly on an app. All available tools are useful in their own ways, but basic analog methods rarely fail you.
