Our’s has a lever in the middle with a yellow handle on it. You rotate the handle which unlatches the steps from the door jam and lower away! Unless something has changed that’s how ours operate on our 310 RL.
While for the most part I am very satisfied with my 390MP. On of the features I really do not like are the Mor-Ryde steps.
They catch dirt and water and flip it into the interior when you close the steps. They are a bit stiff and hard to operate.
But my real peeve is the adjustable legs and pins. The OEM pins fall out when the steps are retracted.
I purchased new pins with a better clip. They did not fall out, but the entire pin system is cumbersome to adjust.
The Step above stairs which are supposed to be an upgrade, have taken something simple like a set of steps and turned it into a project each time you set up camp.
I ditched my Mor Ryde steps for a set of Torxlift scissor style steps. They are not quire as stable as the Mor Ryde, but close.
The feet contact the ground which supply support, they are way more stable than the traditional hanging not supported RV steps.
The difference is the Torxlift steps are easy to adjust, do not require a full 3-4' to deploy. Torxlift steps have adjustable feet , but they don't use a cumbersome pin and clip system. The Torxlift steps also do not block the entire entry door when in the closed position.

Thank you! We had figured out the handle but could not get the steps down. Found out we just had to use a little more muscle and they work beautifully.
What specific model Torxlift step package did you use? Being unable to enter my trailer while in its storage slot has been a real pain. I have to hook up and pull it out most of the way to get inside.

The OEM MOR Ryde steps are OK when conditions are optimum.
However they are a pain in the but when things are not optimum.
The last straw for me was trying to deploy them in a rest area where the ground sloped off quickly.
Deploying steps does not have to be a challenge.
Getting inside the RV in a storage area, does not have to be a challenge.
