newb LP regulator question

Avenue 32RLS. The regulator has auto changeover, per manual.
1. What do the red bars signify? If the lever is vertical I assume auto changeover. If I move it left or right, there is a horizontal red bar. Am I correct in assuming that left is one tank and right is the other? Does the bar signify full/empty?
2.. How do I know which tank is empty and needs filling?
3.. Can I run on a single tank until empty and then switch to the other? (lever to left or right)

The lever needs to be all the way to one side. Which ever side you turn it to will be the tank it is pulling from and the other will be the back up. Keep the valves open on both. The window will be solid red when the tank is empty then you can switch to the other side and remove the empty to get it filled. With it in that position it will try to pull from both tanks. Not sure why it has the vertical red line but it will be solid red when it emptys mine is set to the cylinder on the door side now.
