New owners soon - Generator Feedback

About to finalize purchase of a 395DS. Couple of questions for the group. Looking at installing a Dish Wingard Traveler with 3 receivers. Anyone have experience with these? Considering a gen but price is high. Thoughts on dealer install vs less expensive gen dealer?

Thanks folks.

Hi @jimer - Welcome to the forum. I split up your post into 2 parts and created a new thread for each and placed them in more relevant sub-forums with notifications back to you.

I've had a couple of coaches with the Onan 5500 in them and they're real nice. In my case, they've always been factory installed. While Alliance uses other brands of built-in generators these days, if you are ordering a coach, I'd have the factory install it during the build.

If you're buying a coach off-the-lot and overall pricing is a concern, I suggest getting an 'installed' quote from your coach dealer and perhaps some other companies (RV, service center etc.).

I have a factory installed generator. It is a Yamaha NPS 6000. I tried to start it up because we are about to take our Valor out for the first time.
the generator will not start. I checked the oil when I picked up the Valor it was full. I sent a email to Alliance Thursday about this problem , I have gotten no response. I thought the Alliance factory would check every thing before it was released to the dealership.

Hi folks, sorry your having issues.
When you say it won’t start, does that mean it won’t crank over or it cranks over but won’t start?
While I can’t speak to specifics of your Yamaha genset, I will assume your Valor is using a gasoline powered unit.
Have you checked the basics, is there gas in the tank? Is there some sort of fuel shut off valve that isn’t opened?
Did it happen to come with a genset manual that might have a troubleshooting guide contained within it?

I put 10 gal of gas in tank. it will not even crank over. I checked all the fuses. they are good .
Ok, knowing that it won’t crank narrows it down to most likely an electrical problem. Do you have a remote start inside the coach? Do you have start switch inside the genset housing? Is the unit hooked to your battery properly? If you have the dual start locations, have you tried it from both switch locations?
Did it work during your PDI?

We are heading to dealer ship this morning . The generator wires are lying on the floor of battery compartment. I started looking inside the generator cover and taking voltage at starter solenoid , no voltage , I opened the other compartment with the battery and saw the problem.
The dealership must not have checked anything the refrigerator does not work either . before we leave there today I want to witness everything
working . Thanks for all your advice . Hope to see you at a Alley Rally.
