New lithium battery -> how to tell if Victron will sense it or is there a switch

Hi all,
I have a new 2026 Avenue 35 RKS and I bought a lithium battery for it. I've received conflicting answers regarding if I need to manually switch something or if the Victron charger controller will recognize it.

I'm hoping someone here will have a definite answer or tell me where to look.

My Victron has to be manually switched to Li. Either via the app or the tiny rotary switch on the charge controller. I used the app.

As a side note, my first Victron controller was defective. I contacted Victron directly (not the dealer, and not Alliance) and they sent me a new one within a week. Great customer service.

You'll need to change both the Victron Solar controller as well as your converter to a lithium profile.

You wouldn't happen to know where I look for the converter? Near the fuse box or in the pass through? What does it look like?

My 2026 Delta's converter is auto-switching, there's a sticker on the box say that. Here's a photo of my converter box...Auto-Detect is shown near the fan. And in my Delta, the converter box is buried deep in a cabinet. I had to remove the breaker panel to access it.

There are two types. External ones, like Ox262 showed above and some are integrated into the breaker panel area. Run your batteries down some...and then plug in your RV. Now listen for a slight humming noise...that will be the converter

And in my previous TT, I ran the battery down to about 50-60% and let the converter charge it back up to "prod" the converter to auto-detect. But that was a built in converter and the internal charge light would switch from green (Flooded, AGM) to blue (Lithium). I don't know how my Alliance converter makes that change or how to verify it switched to Lithium. But I used the same process, starting with a 50% charge on my Lithium and let the converter bring it back to 100%.

I am back to working on this. I finally found someone to get the LI battery in the front bay for me. I downloaded the Victron app, but I don't see where you can change to LI via the app. I am also still looking for the converter. The Avenue user manual has a link to the YouTube video to show you how to do it, but what they show in the video is the breaker panel and it does not look like mine at all. I've seen comments in other places that you have to remove the panel itself to get to the converter. Why is this so difficult or am I being a dunce?

I guess the only way to find out is remove it and look behind to see if the converter is behind there on your model.
Regarding your solar, locate the solar charge controller and use the rotory switch to set it for your lithium battery. I will assume your solar control is located in your front compartment.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I am hoping to take my RV out tomorrow to go from TX to RI and was hoping I could use the LI battery.

Yes, I found the controller and am looking at its user manual now to see what it needs to be changed to.

Okay, got the converter. It is behind the breaker panel. Here's a pucture. It says something about auto detect, but it doesn't say what that is in relation to.

Looks like the same one I have. The converter will automatically switch to Lithium from flooded/AGM. Probably need to have your Lithium at 50% so the converter recognizes Lithium and fully charges it back to 100%
