New 2027 Delta RK234

Hello Alliance RV Owners,
My wife and I just put a deposit on a 2027 Delta Ultra Lite RK234! We really liked the rear kitchen layout and front (private) bedroom. Should take delivery in the next few days.
A little concerned about my tow vehicle, 2023 GMC Canyon, 2.7L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, 310 HP, 430 lb-ft, 7700 lbs rated towing capacity. Ran the specs through the Tow Calculator (file attached) and the numbers show I'll be at ~85% of the GCWR. I'm concerned on reserve capacity with head-winds and/or steep grades. Anybody have any experience with the Canyon (or Colorado) at similar trailer weight?

I ordered a set of tow mirrors from Boost Auto that should provide sufficient side viewing with the mid-sized truck but also looking at installing a rear/side camera system, any suggestions on capable systems? I understand the unit is prep'd for both, any issues installing or operating?

Looking forward to our first fall trip!

On paper the GMC can do it, but there's no safety margin for you, your family and other drivers. I towed with 2023 Nissan Frontier, but a different trailer. All my numbers were within spec. And I even had the rig weighed at a CAT scale. While I was within the trucks capability, the towing experience was bad with some trailer sway and some white-knuckle driving around the mid-Atlantic states. And looking at the RK234 specs, it's 27' long and the wheelbase of the GMC is too short. The tail will wag the dog.

Definitely need a bigger truck.

Truck shopping is in your future! And I wouldn't get anything less than a 350/3500. You'll bve very happy with the extra weight abilities.
Trust me....I just moved up from a 250 to 350 due to weight of my 32RLS.

Appreciate the feedback. I'll let you know how the first tow goes after we take delivery this weekend. Any thoughts on rear/side cameras? I've read some negative comments about connection stability with the Furrion Vision S.

I'm a big fan of Haloview over Furrion..simply because Haloview can record from all three camera's, turning the sytem into a massive "dash camera' type of setup.

Here is the video I did on installing the Haloview sytem on our 340RL

Had the Furrion backup and side camera installed on delivery. Work very well and have had no problems. I like the backup camera on the road as it gives you insight on what is behind you prior to changing lanes.
