New 2026 Alliance Avenue 32RLS. Purchased over the winter, stored with dealer until end of April, just back from weekend "test trip". The Lippert auto level pad/controller only works when attached to shore power - or when plugged in with truck. We ran into this when going through training at dealership - "battery needs more charge time", was told. Ran into it again when we went to get the rig from dealer, they used jumper pack to get us hooked up. After 3 days of 50A shore power I still get low voltage errors when trying to do anything with this Lippert system off of the battery. Either I misunderstood, and it always needs external power, or I am overlooking something important in my electrical system, or I have a faulty controller (??). I can contact the dealer, the manufacturer, and Lippert... before doing so thought I'd ask the forum for experience(s)... very possible my inexperience with this new FW has me missing something... thank you

Have you established that the battery is fully charged? While it is wise to always be plugged in when using leveling system , I don't believe it is 100% required

The system should work without the aid of shore power or the charge line from the truck.(assuming battery is charged properly)
You should review your system connections to ensure that all of the crimps and connections are secure.
It feels like you might have a compromise crimp or connections within the leveling system. Don’t forget ground connections as well. Start at the battery, work towards the buss bars and identify the leveling system circuit.
Attached is a manual with a basic wiring diagram to help you trace it out.
Sorry, just realized you might have a different leveling system, the basic wiring should be similar from a power and ground standpoint.

I would recommend removing the battery and having it checked out at an auto parts store. Our so called new battery had a bad cell.

I cannot say I have verified voltage on the battery. I made assumptions, being a new battery, on solar, and then on shore power for a few days. I know, 'assume' is a bad word! First thing I did when I got to campsite was attached power. Unhooked, leveled, hooked back up, all on power. When unhooking back at home, was plugged into truck. The controller was acting up. I couldn't get 'front' lit for both front pads - it was stuck on 'front' and 'left' no matter what I hit. I tried power off/on several times, no change. Possible I didn't wait long enough when off, but I was not getting any sort of reset. Truth told, was getting impatient. Finally, after unhooking completely, I needed to tweak the right pad a bit - and controller would not work on battery, "low voltage". Forced me to get the truck back close enough to plug in order to extend a jack a bit more. Just didn't seem right. I would think battery power could run the auto level system for a quick adjust. Maybe bad battery/warranty situation? Not impossible something is off that needs to be on! I was sent on my way without a very deep understanding of my rig, more a walk through. Studying the user manuals is no replacement for 'hands on'. Happy to check a few things before I cry foul!
Good advice. I have not used battery power for anything yet. I had 15A service at home, loading up. 50A service at campsite. Running truck power other times. Solar alone should keep battery charged. The only thing I've tried to run off of battery is the auto level system, power jacks.

The real question is what is the battery voltage when you try to use the auto level control? If the battery(ies) are weak, then they may not be able to handle the load even though the resting voltage is adequate.
I know it may seem like our responses are not helpful.. But the system should work on a fully charged battery. However fully charged means fully charged under load. Has the battery been low tested?
If we know that the battery is good under load the next thought is to look for a loose connection somewhere between battery and hydraulic system pump.

We had the same problem with our new 32RLS. The auto level system needs pretty much a fully charged battery. The battery should work the slides but if just a little low on charge, kaput!
My habit is once backed in, surroundings checked that all is clear, the shore power is hooked up, step inside and turn on A/C's then outside to level. Just the opposite on packing up. Electric is the last thing I disconnect.
I would agree with the above suggestion to have the battery load tested at your nearby auto supply store. Its free!

All great, but what about boondocking? Your battery bank needs to be able to bring slides in/out and operate landing gear....all without being connected to shore power.
so glad somebody posted this as I was going to do it. we have a 2024 Avenue 32 RLS and last week when we started to set up at our campsite my lippert auto level system was showing low voltage and would not level out my rig. we plugged into the 50 amp charging and turned off the Auto level then turned it back on and it worked fine. when we moved a week later this past Monday and came back to our home base, we have the same problem. I literally just checked my batteries in the front as I have lead acid batteries and upon checking the water level in them, 10 of the 12 cells had no water in them. I added a gallon and a half to both batteries. now we'll see if they hold a charge or if they have been damaged by being so low.
If they do come back to proper voltage, you should RUN down to the local 7-11 and buy a Powerball ticket...don't let that luck run out too quickly.

Adding that much water, its time to consider replacement or upgrade. You will alway be at risk or worry that they will be dead and cause you an issue. Just my opinion of course.

Make sure to use the right type of water for a lead acid type….distilled. Do not over fill. Also a battery hydrometer can give an idea the condition of individual cells.
Yes I did make sure I used distilled water when filling the battery. one cell was overfilled. I was able to empty it out with a paper towel and get some of the water out. now we are just waiting to see if there is any other damage to the battery itself

Suggest that now is a good time to consider Lithium switch and you will not have to worry about water again. Lithium has become more affordable and has much more useable AHs. We switched when we realized that a100ah lead acid battery would not have but 50 ah useable energy before damaging the battery. Wanted to stay overnioght at Harvest Hosts so upgraded to a 300ah lithium and have not looked back, have been very pleased.

yeah I'm starting to shop now for a couple of the 200 amp hour. lithiums, I can put in there. I really appreciate everybody's help
