Jacks “popping”?

We have been on the road for a month camping at several locations for about a week each. It seems one of the landing jacks is popping to where it shakes the rig. I was a quart low on fluid a few weeks back which I filled the reservoir. Are my seals going? I dont see any leakage around any jacks. I am afraid the jacks are going to give out on me. Thoughts please.

I would start by addressing your observation that the system was low on fluid.
This supports that you have a leak somewhere. It could be at the pump, the lines, fittings, jacks, or the slide out cylinders. You may have to access via the underbelly to check the entire system for leakage. Next, I would be sure to bleed the system of any air that may have entered due to the low level.
Once items above are confirmed to be 100%. You could consider adding the anti stiction fluid .Check out the resources section of this forum for the document that contains the details.

Yep everything retracted. Had this issue with my 310RL also.

Yes 2 Allies. Slides in and jacks retracted. I have the Torco on order. Hopefully this will remedy the issue.

Bryan. The note after #10 states the fluid should be no less than 1/2” from fill cap but the max fill line is 1/2 to 1 inch or so below that. So fill above the max line?

JHC, my recommendation would be to honor the max. line on the reservoir. Otherwise you risk overflow and a mess.
Not sure why the instructions would conflict with the max fill line.

As long as you have drained the proper amount of untreated fluid and replaced it with the additive back to the max line you should be fine.

Well, adding the fluid was a temporary fix. I have rolled the slides in/out and set the jacks 6 times since and now the popping is back. Any suggestions? I have reached back out to Alliance but have not heard back.

Well, I believe that they allow you to add up to two quarts of the additive. Not sure how much you have added at this point.
The other thought would be to ensure that the set screw needle valves are all closed appropriately. If one isn’t seated tight enough, it could cause leakage and popping.

I would recommend checking these set screws when the unit is on the truck and the weight off the jacks.
They recommend just ensuring that they are snug, and not using excessive force to close them.
Refer to the attached manual.

As a follow up, I added a 2nd quart of the fluid and also checked the set screws. All very tight. Unfortunately, it is still making the popping noise. I sent a video into Alliance so they can hear it and get Lippert involved.

Might need to let is cycle through the system. Perhaps 3-4 trips? Ours stoped popping very quickly after adding 1 quart to system.

I am sorry to hear that; you previously reported that your fluid level was down by a quart. Did you ever locate a leak? Is your level holding to the level that you last filled it?

Have you checked all of the Jack mounting bolts for the proper torque?

As OC(Jim) indicated, it could take a few cycles to work throughout the system.

Please keep us posted as you learn more.

I had this same issue with mine. Turned out there was air in the system. Lippert has a document on how to fix this issue and remove air from the system, but I had the dealer take care of mine while it was there for another issue.

Bryan,

No, never found a leak but it appears to be holding at the current level. All bolts appear to be within spec. It seems it is popping more now than with only 1 quart added.

JHC, sorry to hear your issue isn’t improving. Others have reported great success with the additive.
Are you able to narrow down which jack it might be coming from?

Might be time to reach out to Lippert for input on your popping issue. I am wondering, is this something you just hear or can you feel it as well?

It varies. Sometimes you can hear/feel the jack and then I hear it in the slides. It's pretty random. I sent a message with video/audio to Leslie with Alliance.
