Insider's Rally?

I got the emails from Open Roads regarding the rally in Tennessee in November. I am not able to go to that one so I didn't go to the website to check it out. The email was promoting a $50 dollar discount if your register by midnight tonight. (Regular price $750, $700 with discount).
Would like to hear from Alliance on this - will they be there?

Learning on the go here. $700 to attend a Rally where they do their upmost to sell you something?

Overall the price is OK. It's not a bargain by any means but consider an upscale campground in a resort area is easily $150 or more per night in my area and in most resort areas. The rally includes a few meals and giveaways etc Essentially it's 250 a night for three nights. An additional $100 a day for meals entertainment etc. added to the typical 150=$250.00
What I find strange about it is who is the sponsor?. Most rallies involve RV'er united by a common cause or RV brand.
I'm not sure what uniting factor is in this rally? As mentioned above how involved is Alliance in this rally.
Who is actually sponsoring or responsible for this rally. It's a bit too anonymous at this point for me.

I guess the point being is, that amount, $150 or more a night for an RV Resort might be nice ok to some peoples pocket book but is down right absurd. On a rare occasion or special occasion ok, but just to go to a rally! As the saying says, a fool and his money.......
That might be a normal price in MD but I can tell you that in normal parts of the country it is ridiculous!
I would think whoever is sponsoring this rally doesn't want a large crowd there.
You probably have a bigger pocket book than I but what I do have won't be spent on a luxury resort.

when I say normal you have to take into account the rally is at a high end CG in a resort area.
Sure Maryland has cheaper priced CG's that are not of the same caliber as the rally CG.
All CG's are not created equal. You need to make a apples to apples comparison when comparing prices.

I agree. All I'm saying is that the person(s) sponsoring a rally should take into consideration that many maybe would like to attend but the cost is preventing their participation. I know I would attempt to get the nicest and cheapest location to allow everyone to attend. But thats me and having to work right now but later, I probably will check into it.
From the beginning of the email solicitation for the rally this appears to be an attempt to hold a rally for profit. I don't begrudge the sponsors for trying to make profit via their rally.
The means for making a profit are much greater at an upscale campground with campers that desire an upscale campground versus trying to make a profit at an economy campground with economy minded campers. Capitalism at work.

Yep you said it, Capitalism at work. The rich trying to get money from the more wealthy. I think we agree what this "rally" really is. Not a camping get together at all but a sales meeting.
The idea that it's more of a money grab vs. focusing RV'ing comradery makes the rally a bit sketchy and exploitative.
