Improving fresh water siphon while dry camping?

We’ve been dry camping and I’ve been using the siphon function to add more fresh water to the tank when we get low. I’ve noticed the siphon/pump takes it sweet time to self-prime, unlike at home where it goes pretty quick. The only difference is a 5 gal bucket vs 5 gal cube . I’ve tried adding water to the hose before starting and checked all the connections for leaks. Here is my set up. Any other suggestions on making this process more efficient?

Put the container up on top of something to make the “draft” or “lift” the pump has to do less of an elevation difference.

Agree with We3zs. You can also purchase a drill pump for under $15

Agree with previous comments, raise the container so the height is more in line with the pump.
