Hi Rick, red lever would need to go side to side. If you look at the winterization label on the panel it shows it.
Additionally, if you go to the regular Alliance website scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the link for owners manuals. Pick the one for your Avenue and go to the plumbing section, it gives you lever position vs flow path for each lever position.
