High altitude water heater use

I have a Delta Ultra Lite with a Contoure Tankless water heater. Contoure says the heater can only be used to 4500 elevation. I live in Arizona. Many areas to RV from 6-9000 feet. Anyone have this heater and have used it at these kind of elevations?

UPDATE: GOT THIS INFO FROM FURRION
specs for their tankless heater

I.E. – de-rating the amount of water heating capacity:
9L @ 4500ft
8.5L @ 6000ft
8.0L @ 8,000ft
7.5L @ 10,000ft

We do not recommend using above 10,000 ft.

For every 2000 it will decrease BTU output by ~10%

Hey Dave, we have the same water heater and will find out how good/bad it is in August when we head to Yellowstone. Have heard it’s not a problem as well as it is. No for sure answers yet.

Unfortunately, no direct experience to share.

We have no experience with those kind of elevations in our east coast travels.

Be sure to check you owners manual, some heaters are equipped Altitude adjustments to control the combustion mixture.

Hey Dave, we have the same water heater and will find out how good/bad it is in August when we head to Yellowstone. Have heard it’s not a problem as well as it is. No for sure answers yet.

WE are going to the Grand Canyon mid April. I have ordered a Fogati water heater tested to 9800 feet. I was hoping I don’t need to use it and can return it. If I get some positive feedback on the unit andI do end up keeping the Contoure, I’ll let you know how it does at 7000 feet.

Hello - I have a Delta with a Furion tankless heater (rated for under 4,500ft) and it was fine in Utah last summer. For example, we stayed at Ruby’s Inn outside of Bryce Canyon (elev. 7,600ft) and noticed no issues. We were in Utah for 2 full weeks and noted no problems. In fact, I didn’t even know elevation was an issue for tankless water heaters until I read your question. So hopefully it works fine for you.

Thanks for the info. I’ll give it a go at the GC in April. Different issue: did you need your furnace when you were there? Just curious how that gas appliance works at elevation also.

No we did not need our furnace. The highest I have been in the winter months is around 2,200 ft.
