Hello Allies, New owner here. My name is Buddy. Have a question about furnace if anyone can shed some light. Just purchased New 2026 Alliance Avenue 32 RLS and heater worked fine about an hour or so then started a loud noise from the outside where hot exhaust discharges from. I have a short video but can’t seem to attached it. sounds like a fan blade hitting something. Any help appreciated as I am somewhat mechanically inclined. I’m 1.5 hours from the dealer and this happened the same day I got it home.

I found that mine was only mounted with 1/4" screws, which weren't enough and the unit broke free, which allowed it to bang around. It caused a gas leak when the fitting loosened. Probably not the issue, but I am assuming you opened it and looked to see it it was screwed down? Since it is new, at least you can make them fix it, or give you a new one.

Welcome to the forum, congratulations on your purchase and your first post here.
It sounds like perhaps some manufacturing debris might have fallen into the inlet slots and is contact the fan as it rotates.

My screws are plenty long, checked that and good. I did not open as it seemed to be really tight and I did not want to force it since still warranty. Thank you

My thoughts also but afraid I’ll damage something and void the warranty. Cannot see from the outside any debris in the exhaust holes but maybe deeper inside. Maybe I’ll dig deeper tomorrow or just make that 1.5 hour drive to drop it back off. Kinda sucks that new products that cost so much has to be taken back 1 day after purchase. Thanks for the thoughts. Maybe my luck will get better

You can have debris, or even a dead critter caught in the fan (had a dead mouse causing a noise once)
If you are somewhat mechanically inclined see if you can access the fan and see what's causing the noise.

Hi Buddy,
You describe this as it sounds like something hitting the fan. This isn’t something that you would see in the intake or exhaust holes on the outside of the coach.

If you can access the back side of the heater the fan motor and blower cage will be somewhat visible thru the intake slots.

I would at least try to get a look to possibly prevent the return trip to the dealership.

Just following back up with all of you. Thanks for the replies. The initial loud noise heard when inside the unit went away, now only still hear noise on the outside. So I did remove the outside cover, no debris that I see. Did find a large zip tie around a hose, gas line i think that wasn't cut off and rubbing against the metal outer cover. Cut that back and seemed a little quieter maybe. No rodents or dobbers as this is brand new and happened day 1 when we got it home. At least the heater still works. I am in contact with Alliance as we speak and waiting to hear back if they can suggest anything. They were great at fast initial response. If I don't get suggestion by Monday, I think I need to remove the complete box so I can see inside that squirrel cage fan in case it's rubbing the housing or something, particularly since it got quieter after first time trying to move it around when I found that zip tie. I will follow back in a few days. Thanks again, Buddy

That could be the issue, something in the fan blades, now it's unbalanced
