Heat Strip

Has anyone added the Coleman Heater Accessory to a Coleman Mach 3 Air Conditioner?
I'm pretty sure I'd have to change out a T'stat to have a "Heat" mode. The middle AC's T'stat "Heat" mode already controls the gas furnace.
Are there any other things you ran into?
In the installation manual they admit that "The heater is an effective “chill chaser” only. 5460 BTUH So it may not be worth the expense and/or trouble.

I looked in to the heat strip option but backed away when I realized it was just a glorified version of the classic 1500 watt space heater.

You may find an advantage in the unit fan, thermostatic control and anytime availability.

I settled on space heater(s) used strategically.
