Heat Strip

Has anyone added the Coleman Heater Accessory to a Coleman Mach 3 Air Conditioner?
I'm pretty sure I'd have to change out a T'stat to have a "Heat" mode. The middle AC's T'stat "Heat" mode already controls the gas furnace.
Are there any other things you ran into?
In the installation manual they admit that "The heater is an effective “chill chaser” only. 5460 BTUH So it may not be worth the expense and/or trouble.

I looked in to the heat strip option but backed away when I realized it was just a glorified version of the classic 1500 watt space heater.

You may find an advantage in the unit fan, thermostatic control and anytime availability.

I settled on space heater(s) used strategically.

I had them installed in my Arctic Wolf that I traded in. I absolutely loved them and they saved so much propane for us. I wanted them installed in our new alliance but I have the furrion chill cubes and furrion does not have heat strips for them. The way they work is that you have an option on your thermostat for electric heat. If the temperature varies by 5 degrees with ambient room temp vs what you have it set at, your propane furnace will kick on until it reaches temp and then it will default back to electric. You may need to change out your controller box in your AC, you probably will need a new thermostat that will also give you the option for electric heat and you will need the heat strip. I rarely ran our propane heater even to bring the camper up to temp on travel days. I would just do it in 5 degree increments and it would heat up the camper pretty fast. We got caught in 20 degree weather several times and I think the propane only kicked on about 2 or 3 times in the 4 years I had them. If I could have them in my alliance now, I would install them.
