Halo view backup camera

Has anyone tried the haloview BT 10 backup camera system?

I kind of like the idea of hanging on the rearview mirror, the system I have now has a big clunky screen, and it’s always in the way of everything.

I like the idea of this if you're only going to have a rear facing camera. If you plan on using side cameras, you'll want the larger display. I hang my Haloview camera off the trucks rearview mirror, as the mirror is of no use to me while towing the 5th wheel.

We've been using the Haloview BT11 for a few years now and really like it. The display straps over the rear view mirror and has a front facing camera. As you drive the BT11 records what is going behind you and ahead of you. If a vehicle is passing us on the right or left it puts up a red indication on that side of the mirror and it will also sound an alarm, but we turned that feature off.

Wow that camera is kind of neat. While I can imagine the benefits, cameras in general are distracting to me and I prefer to just use my mirrors.

I like the BT11 because the monitor is off the dashboard and up on the rear view mirror where I naturally look to see what is going on behind me. However, I still rely heavily on my mirrors, this is just another tool to use. When I'm passing someone, I know that as soon as I see them in the display that I am far enough ahead of them to safely move over, but I still check the mirrors to make sure no one else is there. People drive crazy these days and its not uncommon to have someone weaving though traffic passing people on the right and left. The red indicator helps with that too. If I look up and see red I know someone is passing me and is probably in my blind spot. This feature works most of the time. It also records what going on a head of you and behind you. I forget how large a memory card that I put in it, but it records for days before it starts overwriting the videos. You can also save the video's by hitting a button on the display and it will automatically save the current video if it senses that you have come an abrupt stop (like during an accident), but I haven't needed of tested that feature.

In short, I like the BT11, but its not going to replace using your mirrors, no camera should. Best of luck.

Yet...not entirely related but they are trying to replace all mirrors with cameras. Actually, they just pushed again last month to get the FMVSS revised. Interesting website if you are into vehicles, by the way.
