Has anybody tried the Velarium VA0801 Velocity Control Switch? Its a plug and play device thats speeds up the awnings so they open and close quicker. It only works on the switch you install it on but seems like a really cool product. It includes a switch so if yours does not have the exact pin configuration as the harness, you can swap it in. I think one of the "RV tech" sites mentioned it.

$147.52, including shipping. There is no harness, 4 wires sticking out of the module; It's about a 30 minute install. Important to note that the module only works with the switch you install it on. If you need the speed module on both the inside switch and the basement switch, then you will need two modules. Two awnings with two switches each requires 4 modules. I only installed two modules on the inside switches.

I'm interested in the full voltage it is outputting (I'm guessing close to 24v based on the 2x faster claim). Can someone throw a multimeter on it when you are installing and advise? Seems like a $30 soft start PWM and $15 Step-Up would accomplish the same thing for about half of the cost and could probably put one setup in the circuit and work from both locations per awning assuming the stock switches and wiring can handle it (I need to think about this and draw it out though to confirm circuitry). Same thing I do to my son's power wheels to overvolt the motors with soft start to prevent shock loading the gears. It's just getting a DC motor to spin faster and the only way to do that is increasing voltage. So with this product, they are increasing the voltage to the motor using the stock wiring from switch to awning motor.

Would like to do some testing on our 19' awning to check current in wiring during retract in windy conditions (worst case) and calc the max V the stock wiring can handle.

Yeah I get it But the key to that is that not to have the awning up in the storm. The point of the electric awning is push button Convenience. In the days of the manual awning you had to work hard to bring it in and out But electric awnings Make it easy enough to just roll it in when the storm is approaching and roll it out when it leaves speed doesn't enter the equation.
Lastly never leave the awning unattended. Don't hesitate to hit that switch. I think it takes all of 30 seconds for mine to roll in Do I need to get it down to 15?
I see the speed switch as a solution looking to a problem that doesn't really exist.
It's not worthy to be added to my collection of RV items that you really don't need but that I own.

I wouldn't consider that you need to explain yourself on this modification. Simply put, if you don't think it's necessary, then don't buy it.

It's not that I need to explain. it's more that forums are more about discussion.
With every discussion someone learns something. The longer the thread goes on, the more opinions and discussions happen.
The true value is that members don't have to agree with all opinions and statements.
But they all get to express their opinions which generally benefits someone else along the way.

The velocity switch is not quite as easy to install as the video demonstrates. It will require manually cutting wires from the old switch and attaching to the new switch with its wiring. Information from tech support.

Agree 100%!! I try to pick the campsites that have the campside to the east so have afternoon shade. The money is not worth the extra 30 seconds to put them out or in. I run both of mine in/out at the same time!
Lets see how much beer can $150 bucks buy??! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I did not cut any wires on the existing switch. I put two female spade lugs and two male spade lugs on the Velocity module. The two male lugs were inserted into the two female lugs that were removed from the switch; Shrink tubing was used to prevent potential short. The remaing two lugs on the Velocity unit were plugged into the switch, of course minding the color codes on all connections. By doing it this way, you can revert the system back to OEM if necessary or desired.
