Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has used this setup. I am considering the Andersen and also the B&W Companion Slider. Have you had any clearance issues with the Andersen? How is the towing experience with either? New to fivers not to towing though.

No experience with Andersen but recently installed a Companion Slider in a Chevy 3500 short bed. Slider won't work because of the CURT Rotoflex pin box. The Rotoflex is pretty flat going back from the kingpin and the back of the pinbox hits the tailgate if the slider is slid back. Take a look at this before you decide.

No clue on those hitches, but we had a SB F-350 years ago, and used the Reese Airborne Sidewinder and it worked great. No need to remember to engage the slider, as this moves the pivot point back.

The 2025s have a different pinbox; the Curt Helux. I am admittedly a total newbie to fivers. However, I recall seeing a lockout kit for the Rotoflex. Unsure of that would be helpful or not but thought I would share. Thanks for taking the time to help out!!

The hitch looks really interesting and i love the lightweight. I am trying to figure out if I use this hitch, and also put on a retractable tonneau cover, will I have enough clearance.

I have used the Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel hitch since 2017. Used it with a 25' Jayco fifth wheel and Grand Design 337rls fifth wheel and now our Alliance Valor 43v13. I've never had any clearance issues with our roll up tonneau cover. It is super easy to hitch and unhitch even at different pitches and angles. However I'm not sure if it would be compatible with the Curt Helux pin box? I would shoot Anderson an email to find out.

If you do end up going with the Andersen hitch. FORT KNOX makes a great lock that encapsulates the entire connection on the pin box.

How about cab clearance? How much room do you have there?

We have had a 2017 F350 6.7L short bed with an Andersen Ultimate since the truck was new. Towed a Heartland Landmark & more recently a Paradigm 340 RL. I set the Pinbox adapter towards the trailer which allows the most clearance. Have never had a clearance issue in 15-20k. Before our last trip in October ‘24 I upgraded to the 3rd generation Ultimate hitch, which they beefed up compared to the second generation which was the first aluminum version.

No issues at all with clearance on a 2020 Ram 3500. I'm leaving where I'm at on Thursday or Friday and will try and remember to get a Pic of it hooked up.
Todd, that would be absolutely awesome of you to do that. I appreciate you using your time to help me, and others I am sure, with this investigation of mine!

I am going to call Andersen today. Thank you very much!

Have an Andersen hitch on our 2022 Chevy 4dr duranax and a 2024 29RL. Works great, turns better than when we had the slider and "easy" to take in/out. Love it!

I have a 2024 ram 3500 Laramie sport with 8’bed and a paradigm 2025 yr 295 MK. Have a roll up tonneau cover and toolbox in the bed. Real truck.com helped me beyond belief to get my cover and box. I have made almost 90 degree turn and no clearance issues whatsoever!! I have the new helix pinbox and went with Andersen hitch. LOVE the combo. Smooth ride and Andersen hitch is adjustable. I went to the lowest setting because my truck sets so high !

I know I am a new guy, and I am asking a lot with this request. Is there anyone willing to take "measurement 1" as indicated by Andersen as shown below? My rig is being built right now and there are no 340RL-s in town here in SW Florida. Anyhow, grateful for you all considering, if nothing else!

I have a 2024 F350 SB SRW. I use the Curt Slider puck system. I found that in most cases I don't need the slider. But when hooking up and disconnecting, it gives you more room between the down tail gate and the front of the 5th wheeler. My bed cover clears the hitch by about 2 inches.

Here are the pics I took this morning. Ball set to lowest position and the block istalled to the rear position. This set up works great for my truck. Plenty of room between the tonneau rail and the front cap.1000001832.jpg1000001831.jpg1000001830.jpg
