Downsizing the Mattress

New 37MBR that came with a king bed. Wife insists on replacing the factory mattress and I can't blame her, it's only slightly better than the plywood base it sits on. I'm thinking about putting in an Olympic Queen (66 x 80) to give us two extra inches of walking space on each side. The plywood base is 66" wide.

Does this sound reasonable or should I just stick with the original king size (70 x 80)? Any recommendation for which mattress maker?

we replaced our king bed in our 2024 32 RLS Avenue with One from wilderness mattress. we bought the top of the line one and are completely pleased with it. although if you need those extra 2 in on each side. it's a great idea to downsize and you will have to most likely modify the wood base. it sits on easily done and easily removable.

If you and your wife are comfortable with 66", then go for it. It will also making the bed up easier. We down sized our king a few inches in width, no issues. We went with the Signature Hybrid by Brooklyn Bedding (firm). We had the Dreamfoam Essentials prior to this one (med/firm) which i liked better.
Good luck,

Wife and I currently sleep on a 60" queen at home, so a 66" wide queen will seem roomy in comparison. Thank you all for your inputs.

Sure...do whatever you want! We bought from Mattress Insider, and they can make the bed any size you want.
